Thanks for reaching out to us, LUMCTreasurer77. I've got all the details on how you can access your data without an active subscription.

If you subscribe to QuickBooks Online, your data will be available in read-only access for a year. You can export the file to Excel or a desktop version.

Here's how to export your lists and reports to Excel:

  1. Select the Gear ⚙ icon and then select Export Data.
  2. On the Reports tab, set the date range.
  3. Add or remove items from the Reports and Lists tabs by toggling the slider.
  4. Select Export to Excel.

To export non-posting transactions and attachments, please see this article: Download Other Data.

You can also move your data to QuickBooks Desktop using our trial version. For the detailed process, you can check out this article: Move your QuickBooks Online Data.

In case you're using the QuickBooks Desktop stand-alone license, you can still access your data on your computer. However, for the 2022 version, you can open your file on a machine with an active license.

To learn more about the 2022 version, I'd suggest browsing this article: Upcoming Changes: QuickBooks Desktop Updates.

If you'd like to cancel your QuickBooks subscription, I'd recommend checking out these articles to learn how:

Also, please let me know what product or version of QuickBooks you're using. This helps us make sure you can still access your data without an active subscription.

You can always count me in if you need additional help. It's always my pleasure to help you out again.

QuickBooks Desktop.

I am running Desktop QB Pro Plus 2021, which I didn't realize had a subscription until it refused to let me access the file this month because "they couldn't verify my subscription."  When I talked to Intuit Support, they said that I would only be able to access the file if I had an active subscription.  I volunteer for a small church and the price of the software sky-rocketed from the version we got in December of 2020, with enhanced payroll, for $399.99 to the charges I had in 2022 from Intuit of $824, plus $120 for the per/employee charge.   They pitched me QuickBooks Online offering a 50% reduction in the one-year QuickBooks subscription of $135, going up to $270 after a year.  They said that the payroll add-on would continue to be $22.50/month, plus $4/employee.  When I finally saw the invoice, I discovered that the $22.50 price was only for 3 months, after which it rose to $45/month, making the annual charge for a Simple Start QB plus Online Payroll Core for our 6 employees a whopping $1,098.  Needless to say, I cancelled QBO and will stay with QBD.  I spent three days getting run around the bush with conflicting information and misinformation, only to end up where I started.  I am now trying to find a vendor for Desktop QuickBooks Pro 2021 without a subscription, so that I will only have to deal with the payroll subscription until 2024, when I am up the creek without a paddle.

Please note that I have used QuickBooks for years and am very pleased with the product.  But it seems to be starting to be priced out of the market for the really small users.

I ordered QB Desktop Po 2021 from Etsy and am waiting to get it.  Then I will need to see if I can install it and get it attached to our EIN.  So it is currently a waiting game.  Thanks for all the information, although many of the “official” responses from Intuit suggested things that don’t make sense (like having access for a WHOLE year doesn’t satisfy regulatory requirements that span much longer than that.)

Make sure you can access CAMPS as Primary Admin and find your non subscription license there.

Hello there, puja_core.

To make sure we're on the same page, what specific task do you want to do with QuickBooks Desktop? Also, do you mean you want to renew your subscription so you'll be able to use it?

I hope you can give me more details about it so I can properly address your concern. Anyway, if you have any other questions, let me know so I can get back to you as soon as possible. Have a nice day!

Let's make sure you'll be able to access your company file in QuickBooks Desktop, puja_core.

QuickBooks Desktop Pro Plus is an annual subscription that must be renewed every year to maintain access to your software. This subscription also includes QuickBooks Desktop Pro, Intuit’s 24/7 support, and automatic backups and upgrades from Intuit.

Therefore, you have to renew your subscription to be able to access your data file. Consider checking out some authorized resellers or through the QuickBooks Solution Provider program. They are those who participate in the program that cannot only sell Intuit products directly to clients but can provide business solutions based on your needs, wants, and organizational goals. Otherwise, look for retail stores and see if you can purchase a QuickBooks 2022 version. This way, there's a great chance that you can open and work with your file again.

I've added this article so you know how you can manage your account and services and QuickBooks Desktop: Manage Your QuickBooks Desktop Subscriptions And Services.

Drop me a line if you have any further questions. I hope we stay in touch and get to work together again in the future.

You may consider to buy a (used) one time license for QBD 2020 and convert your core data from QBD 2022. Otherwise, you have no choice but to buy a new QBD 2023 license to open your files. You can get $100 cashback and buy it through a partner (tax exempt) to lower costs if needed. T&C apply.

There is no QBD 2022 (except QBD 2022 Accountant) with the one time license. You may consider the options as I mentioned earlier.
