I'll clarify a few things about how these new estimates' layout works, enrique8.

QuickBooks estimates and invoices are improving. That said, your workflow for said entries will look different depending on whether you have the old or the new version of estimates and invoices.

To see which version of estimates and invoices you have, please follow these steps:

  1. Click the + New button.
  2. Choose Invoice or Estimate
  3. At the top left of the form, if you see “New” by the form title, then you’re currently using the new version.

  1. Click + New. Then select Estimate.
  2. Select + Add customer and select your customer from the ▼ dropdown.
  3. Choose + Add product or service. Then, in the Product or service field, select the ▼ dropdown and choose your product or service. Then add the rate, if needed.
  4. To request a deposit, select + Request a deposit. Then enter the amount.
  5. The payment methods for the deposit will display in the Ways to Pay section. To edit, turn on/off the switches under Payment methods.
  6. When you're done, select Email to save and send the estimate to your customer.

QuickBooks

Let me guide you on how you can use the new form for estimate, enrique8.

QuickBooks saves all the information from your existing estimates and invoice so you won't lose your work. You can always switch anytime to the old or new form. Since you prefer using the new one, you'll want to switch to the new experience. To do this, follow the steps below:

  1. Select + New.
  2. Select Invoice or Estimate.
  3. Select Try the new invoices.

Also, QuickBooks customize and adjust your forms right on the estimate or invoice that you're about to send. It remembers your choice and applies them to your next estimates and invoice. To give you more information about your new experience, I've added this article for more details: See What's New With Estimates and Invoices In QuickBooks Online.

Moreover, after you've sent estimates to your customer. And when it's time to process payments, you can check out this article for more information and complete steps: Take and Process Payments In QuickBooks Online.

Feel free to let me know if you have any questions when creating estimates. I'll always be here to help.

Allow me to help you with this matter and check your Estimates' activity in QuickBooks, Caseyd33.

To confirm, are you using the new QuickBooks version and want to switch back to the old invoice layout? If so, the availability to get back the old one for invoice/estimate depends on your plan. If you're using Plus or Advanced, you'll have the option to switch the layout.

To do so, go to + New, then select the Estimate, and then click Old layout. I've added a screenshot below for a better visualization.

New Layout to OLD LAYOUT.png

Meanwhile, you can update the layout anytime by clicking the Update layout to switch back to the new interface.

Please take note that the old layout no longer shows the dates when the estimate is viewed and accepted.

However, if you're referring to something else about getting back the app to how it was before, feel free to give us an update below. Any additional information will be much appreciated.

Going back, once we've sent an estimate to our customers, they'll have the option to accept or reject it. Furthermore, its status will automatically update after the selection using the New layout.

This said, we can check by following the steps below:

    1. On the Sales tab, choose Customers.
    2. Select the customer you've sent the estimate.
    3. Under Transaction List, you check its Status. Also, we can directly click the estimate and you'll be routed to the Estimate activity. This shows when your client viewed and accepted or rejected the estimate.

I've provided a screenshot for your visual reference:

ESTIMATE ACTIVITY.png

In case you don't see any activity on your Estimate activity, this means that your customer has yet to view the estimate on email.

In addition, you can also convert an estimate into an invoice in QuickBooks Online after a customer accepts your estimate.
