Get 50% OFF QuickBooks for 3 months*
Buy nowI have had my IT guy have a look at my QuickBooks after it encountered an error. Last backup was 3 months ago (sorry) so we could not make use of the restore function. After a backup-and-rebuild, we were presented with a rebuild report that highlighted several issues. One of those was the following:
Verify Primary: totTrans wrong. Is ### should be ###.
When we followed the instructions for correcting this issue without a pre-error backup file,
The fifth step talks about finding the *.adr file. We have that directory, and four files within that directory, but none of them are pure *.adr files. They have the following extensions:
My IT tech has unhidden all files and folders, and we cannot see any evidence of a *.ADR file without any further extensions on the end. The instructions on the help page explicitly instruct us to use a *.ADR file, without any "old" on the end.
Looking for any help and further instructions. TIA.
My tech will be monitoring this thread, and may respond in kind.
As a note, I am the IT tech in question, and can access the machine remotely to conduct operations. You may ask me whatever additional questions are needed.
I also have a BBA in Accounting, know major accounting functions, and am familiar with most Quickbooks features. This data rebuild function, however, is completely new to me, and I have asked my client to post a question here in order to get the correct instructions.

You can try to remove the OLD extension on the file. Make sure to secure the backup files beforehand.
*.ADR.old -> remove .old
*.ADR.old1 -> remove .old1
Another option, find any *.qbw, *.qbb, or *.qbm on your machine and ask a 3rd party service provider to check (and fix it) if required.
