Remote data sharing

Hello there, @Chipr.

You've come to the right place. You'll need to set up the QuickBooks Database Server Manager to connect your financials via remote data sharing. I'd be happy to walk you through the steps.

Here's how:

  1. Double-click the installer for your QuickBooks and start the Installation Wizard.
  2. Select Next if the computer is connected to the Internet. If not, select No, then Next.
  3. Close other open programs, then select Next.
  4. Read the terms of the Software License Agreement. If you agree, select I accept the terms in the license agreement, then select Next.
  5. Click Customer or Network Options.
  6. Choose an installation type:
  • Choose I'll be using QuickBooks on this computer AND I'll be storing... if you will run the QuickBooks program on this computer.
  • Choose I will NOT be using QuickBooks on this computer... if you will only store QuickBooks data on this computer.

               7. Click Yes, allow access.

               8. Enter the License Number and Product Number.

               9. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.

               10. Setup the Database Server Manager after it has been installed.

That's it! Please keep me posted on how things go with this. I'm here anytime you need further help.

Remote data sharing

Hi wilsonn128.

Thanks for dropping by this afternoon. I'm happy to help you out this afternoon. What you'll want to do is install QuickBooks desktop on the other computer and then log in with the license you're using. There's two different modes involved. Single-User and Multi-User. What you want to do is go ahead and turn on Multi-User mode on your main PC. This will allow you to use the program on other devices as long as you are signed out on your original, meaning you  only be on one device at a time. If you have multiple licenses you can be on multiple devices at the same time.

To switch between modes, go to the QuickBooks File menu, then select Switch to Single-user Mode/Switch to Multi-user Mode. You can also find more information on the differences between the two modes and features in this article: Features and tasks you can perform in single or multi user mode

If you have any other questions or concerns, feel free to post here anytime. Thank you and have a nice weekend.

@wilsonn128

If you are in the same network environment, follow the steps as mentioned earlier. Otherwise you have to deploy something to connect by internet.
