Reports for inventory

Hi all,

I am hoping someone can help me here. I am trying to build a report that shows what inventory we have to make for orders. We have products that have to be assembled before we can enter them into inventory for that order. Is there a report I can run that will show what products are missing on sales orders? I hope that makes sense.

Reports for inventory

Currently, we don't have a specific report to track products missing from sales orders,angel511.  However, we can run the Open Sales Orders by Item and Inventory Stock Status by Item reports as these can help manage your inventory more effectively. Let's go through these reports below.

You can pull up these two reports to show what products are missing for your sales order before building assemblies in QuickBooks. Here's a step-by-step guide to help you with that.

To pull up the Open Sales Orders by Item:

  1. Go to the Reports menu.
  2. Select Sales and choose Open Sales Orders by Item.
  3. Once the report is opened, click the Customize Report button to modify the report based on the data you need.

To pull the Inventory Stock Status by Item report:

  1. Go back to the Reports menu and select Inventory.
  2. From there, choose Inventory Stock Status by Item. This report shows the quantities on hand, sales orders, and purchase orders.
  3. Click the Customize button to modify based on the data you need.

Then, you can export the reports to Excel to modify your data further. For more details about exporting and customizing reports in QuickBooks, see these links:

I've also added a couple of articles that you may find helpful when building assembly:
