Show a subtotal without individual prices?

On Desktop (Mac specifically), for estimates and invoices, I'd like to show several items but only the price or the subtotal for all the items. I've tried using groups, but it seems I have to either show all the info in the group (items and prices), or just the group itself (without items and prices). I've also tried inserting a subtotal, but again, I can't find a way to hide the prices of the items. So, just to recap- I'd like to show Items A,B,C without showing their individual prices, but show the price for all three of them items together.

I offer sound and lights for events. I want to give an estimate that I will provide microphones ($100), speakers ($500) and lights ($900) but only show the total and not the individual prices.

Thank you.

Show a subtotal without individual prices?

Hey there, Midasmouse.

You can edit the invoice template, then uncheck/hide the Rate column. This way, it will only show the total of all items.

Feel free to let me know if you have other questions. Have a great day!

Show a subtotal without individual prices?

Correct, however I don’t want to show the total of each item, just the total of the group of items, while also retaining the ability to show other individual items.

Item A - $500

Item B - $200

Group 1:

  Item C

  Item D

  Item E

  Group Total - $900

Item F - $100

Show a subtotal without individual prices?

Hello there, midasmouse

Thanks for getting back and providing details of your concern. Allow me to provide additional information about customizing invoice templates.

At the moment, there isn't an option to show just the total of your group item in QuickBooks Desktop. However, you have the option not to print the items so the group total will only show in your invoice. To do this, you'll just need to remove the check mark from your Item Settings.

Here's how:

  1. Go to List.
  2. Select Items.
  3. Double-click the group name.
  4. Make sure to uncheck the box for Print items in group.
  5. Click OK.

I've attached a screenshot below for your reference.
