Yes, the Community support is available, @AHC_1962. We're here 24/7 to assist, and I'm here to guide you in handling your credit card accounts in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).

If you mean about the banking side in QBDT, you can switch your credit card account by disconnecting it from your old account and adding it to the new one. To add, follow these steps:

  1. In the Lists menu, Choose Chart of Accounts.
  2. Select New from the Account dropdown,
  3. Decide an account type and hit Continue.
  4. Once the account details are set up, click Save and Close.
  5. After that, you can now connect it in your Bank Feeds

On the other hand, if you want to change the credit card you use to pay for your QuickBooks Desktop subscription, you can log in to CAMPs and make the necessary changes there. For a step-by-step guide, see the Solution 1 on this resource: Fix subscription has lapsed error in QuickBooks Desktop

However, if your situation is different, you can reply below and add specific concerns details. Know that we're determined to help you achieve your goal. With this, you may attach screenshots so we can get a clear picture of your current situation and supply assistance to aid this.

Additionally, to record and categorize your bank accounts to reconcile your accounts seamlessly, you can match Bank Feed transactions in QuickBooks Desktop.

The Community forum is always here to guide you every step of the way. For more questions and concerns, post here, and I'll help you anytime!

switching credit card account to new company

Thanks for your response.

Ok I understand to create a credit card account in the new company but what happens to all the transactions in the old company file? They are still valid. How can I include those transactions in the new company and close the account in the old company. I was told to create a journal entry but not sure what account to credit and which account to debit.

Thanks for coming back, AHC_1962.  Let me help you handle your credit card account and transactions in QuickBooks Desktop.

We can include the credit card transactions from the old company file by copying those entries and exporting them to the new company file. Here's how:

  1. From the Edit menu, choose Preferences.
  2. Select Accounting and choose the Company Preferences tab.
  3. Uncheck Use account numbers, then hit OK.
  4. Then, go to Sales Tax and choose the Company Preferences tab.
  5. In the "Do you charge sales tax" section, select No, then press OK.

Once done, proceed to Step 2 until you finish the process in this article: Copy multiple transactions from one company file to another.

On the other hand, we can disconnect your credit card account from Bank Feeds in the old company. For the steps and details, check out this article: Disconnect Bank Feeds for an account in QuickBooks Desktop.

Additionally, we can also create a journal entry to manually enter the transaction into the new company file. However, we recommend consulting with your accountant for guidance to ensure you can select the appropriate accounts. For more information about the process, refer to this article: Create a journal entry in QuickBooks Desktop for Windows or Mac.

We always have your back should you need assistance with exporting your data files or any QuickBooks-related concerns. Drop your reply anytime and I'll get back to you. Take care always.
