Templates have resized paper size

Recently, my templates have been resized and when I try to print them (sales order, packing slip, etc.), I get the following error:

The form you are about to print cannot be resized for letterhead paper, as it has been modified in the layout editor.
You may wish to choose a different paper type setting other than letterhead. Click OK to print anyway, or Cancel to skip printing this form.
When I open the template in the Layout Designer, the template (which used to be 8.5 x 11) is now 8.66 x 11.16. I can't find any way to change the page dimensions.

Apparently, this problem is only on my computer. If I log into QB from another computer, the page is the correct size.

Templates have resized paper size

Hello there, GGood.

Let me point you in the right direction, so you can print sales orders or packing slip seamlessly.

The QuickBooks PDF & Print Repair Tool is a utility that resolves any printing issues in QuickBooks. This will rename the old file and recover your printer's custom settings. I’ll help and guide you through the steps.

  1. Make sure to close your QuickBooks.
  2. Then, download the latest version of the QuickBooks Tool Hub and click Save File.
  3. Open the QuickBooksToolHub.exe link.
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation process.
  5. Next, double-click the icon on your desktop to access the tool hub.
  6. From there, go to the Program Problems menu on the left panel to select the QuickBooks PDF & Print Repair Tool.repair tool.png

Next, open your QuickBooks and print a sales order. If you get the same error, let’s go to the Printer Setup and configure your printer to print on standard paper.

Here’s how:

  1. Press the File menu at the top bar and choose Printer Setup.
  2. This will display a window where you’ll have to select the form type to print.
  3. Click the Form Name drop-down to select Sales Order.
  4. Press the Settings tab view and hit the Options button.
  5. The next window depends on the software your printer uses.
  6. Make sure your printer is set to print on the correct paper orientation.
  7. Click OK to display the Printer Setup window.
  8. Press the Printer Type drop-down arrow and pick the option that matches your printer.
  9. Choose OK.

For future reference, these resources contain solutions on how to fix common printing issues including PDF files.

Please let me know if I can be of further assistance. I’ll get back to help and make sure you’re taken care of. Have a good one.
