upgraded to iMac Sierra now QB will not open

I have an old iMac 2010- and recently upgraded to Sierra (as that was the newest OS my computer would accept) I had QB2011 and once i upgraded i can no longer open it.  After researching a bit, it looks like i need QB2016 for MAC but can not seem to find it.  QB2016 is compatible with Sierra but if I am able to find and download it, will I be able to open my 2011QB? I needed to upgrade iMac for other reasons, not even thinking this would be a problem and now I can not open any of my work.  I had a disk that I installed for 2011 and was hoping to do the same. Any help/suggestions welcome, thank you.

Welcome to the Community, @Al230

As an insight, QuickBooks Desktop for Mac 2016 is no longer a supported version. Thus, affecting the compatibility and system requirements in QuickBooks for Mac.

To get this working, you might want to rest the macOS update, then upgrade your QuickBooks program.

You can also download a trial version that will work for 30 days from www.qblittlesquare.com. Or you can purchase it from Intuit or Amazon.

Post again if you have additional concerns. I'll be here to guide you more.

@Al230

Consider upgrading your version to QBD 2019

https:// quickbooks.intuit.com/learn-support/en-us/help-article/product-delivery/system-requirements-quickbooks-desktop-2019-19-0/L0TwnOiPF_US_en_US?uid=l04ms92n

You can still purchase a one-time license for QBD 2019 from some partners. Utilize the trial version to upgrade your file(s) before buying the license. Contact us in private for assistance.

@katherinejoyceO Thank you for your help. Do you mean downloading qb 2016 from that website or a different year? I’m open to trying other years but I believe 16 was the newest I could go with the Sierra OS.

@Al230

I checked the website only provides the trial license for QBD Mac 2022.

Did you visit the link I shared earlier? QBD 2019 supports Sierra and Intuit still supports QBD 2019 until May 2022. Contact us in private and we may share the trial version for QBD 2019.

@Fiat Lux - ASIA  Thank you for your help.  I’m very open to trying newer quickbooks but thought 2016 was the newest I was able to go with the Sierra OS. I could not open that link but will try on my other computer later. Sorry I didn’t know how to private message. I’m new to this community.

@Fiat Lux - ASIA  I was able to download the trial of 2019 from QB and it updated my old files so I can access them now and re-save them.  I thought 2016 was the only update I could do. I really appreciate your help thanks again.
