User Access

I want to be able to access everything that is in my organization's QB - general ledger, payroll, reconciliations, etc. - but have NO authority to change anything.  How do I express this request to my master administrator?  The reason I want this is for segregation of duties.   I have access to the organizations funds, including bank accounts, so I should be prevented from anything to do with recordkeeping, other than seeing the records.

User Access

We can ask the Master Admin to grant you access to these options, dmandreae.

You can discuss with them what access they can grant you to view and make changes such us payroll, reconciliation and other financial reports. They can edit your access by going to the Gear icon and click Manage Users. Then, click the Users tab and under the ACTION column, click Edit.

They can also use these references about our user type and the access you can have:

User Access

Hello @Mody,

A class can only be assigned to your transaction, not a role when adding a user. Let me share what are the roles you can assign to a user.

  • Banking
  • Sales
  • Expenses
  • Reports
  • Workers
  • Lists
  • Account Management

To learn more about these roles, check this article for reference: Add and manage custom roles in QuickBooks Online Advanced.

Lastly, here's an article you can read for ideas in case you needed to transfer the role of a master admin: Change your QuickBooks Online master admin user.

If there's anything else you need help with, let me know by leaving a comment. I'll be here to lend a hand.
