I have QB on my desktop but have been out of town for an extended period of time. I would like to be able to work on my company but can't from a distance. Is there a way to work online for a small period of time?
Hi there, @Reisha.
To access your QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) online, you may use the Intuit Hosting Program or use QuickBooks Online (QBO). Let me help share additional information.
If you're using the Intuit Hosting Program, you'll have a licensed copy of your QBDT software installed on servers in an authorized remote hosting facility. Thus, you'll be able to access that software over the internet on a virtual desktop via a secure connection and a web browser remotely.
If none, you may need to use QBO to work on with your company file. However, you'll need to make sure that the data from QBDT are imported to QBO.

There are remote desktop options from several sources for a small fee. I use Splashtop and have been well satisfied. I have even used a first generation ipad to control my desktop computer with full (although shrunken in size) access to not only Quickbooks but also any other program on the computer. It is possible during March Madness to watch CBS Sports streaming on a device that does not support streaming but when your desktop does.
Another option is to load a second copy of software onto a compatible laptop as your allowable second install.
Neither of these options requires paying Intuit anything additional

Does this option cost extra?
Hi there, JLP26.
Yes, you'll have to subscribe to QuickBooks Online first before migrating from QuickBooks Desktop. Here's the link to subscribe to QBO: https://intuit.me/3dRQf29.
I have here a guide for you if you want to migrate from QBDT to QBO: The QuickBooks Guide to Converting QuickBooks Desktop to QuickBooks Online.
Count me in if you have any other questions. I'll be here to help. Stay safe.
Keep in mind, you have to migrate your data from QB Desktop to QB Online. You couldn't sync both of them.
