At the end of each month I download the QBO for each of my cards and then import into my Quickbooks. But the accuracy depends on the vendor; some do not fully list the account name etc. For instance I have 3 Chase bank QBOs and those are clear in name so assigning them to an Account is easy. But for some [CitiCard] I can import 1 QBO and say its for X card with Citi but if I import a 2nd QBO it's not clear which Citi account it's for. Can I just combine all the similar cards? Just do the downloaded transactions and import to one whole card account [ie Chase] and not worry about which subpart it comes from?

I am still confused - so far I have been importing the QBOs from accounts to separately titled accounts as shown in picture below = in other words there are more than 1 type of chase card = the Q is whether I can merge all of Chase 1 into Chase 3 and Chase 2 into Chase 3 and not need to import/add/match transactions separately into each one = some QBOs clearly identify the card [Chase being one] but others do not = right now I guess - and the whole point really is just to have the transaction in QBks so I can do P&Ls per month for certain accounts = my bank account is the one I reconcile precisely. And I don't see anything like Recognized etc ref transferring = I thought I would just rename Chase 1 into Chase 3 and the two would merge and that would be just fine, same with other related items.

One other reason is that Card 1 may be lost or replaced by Card 2 - so far I have them separated but they are on the same card/source just different ##. So the merging function is logical = the Q is whether different ## cards by same issuer can be treated the same = I don't see why not and thought I'd just merge them for ease of it.

I'm joining the thread to share some insights about this banking concern.
The merging process is recommended if you have the following scenarios:
We do not recommend merging if the account is still actively downloading transactions in QuickBooks. This is because online banking downloads data based on your bank info and credentials.
If you want to merge accounts that is still connected for online banking, you will need to disconnect the connection first. Then, add the new account information as a separate register in the Chart of Accounts and merge them afterwards.
I've outlined the steps for you below:
Next, add the new account information by going to the Accounting tab then Chart of Accounts. Tap the New button then add a new name for the updated credentials. Skip this step if you already have the account added.
Once done, follow the steps below to merge the two registers. Don't worry, you will not lose any transactions during the merging process. All entries will go to the winning account (active). Follow the steps below:
Once merged, connect the account again to online banking. These are the steps:

I am just getting back & still want to work on the issue - the problem is your directions [and images] refer me to QBks online == I don't. use that = I use QBks 2019 for Mac standalone desktop = and while I know Inuit/QBks wants me to move to online, I can't afford to nor do I need to = I'm just doing my own little financial record keeping.
From the discussion above it appears that if I want to do this, first I can/should disconnect all the accounts from online download which is fine. - then I would merge them [ie Chase 1 and Chase 2 into Chase 3] which apparently is accomplished by renaming Chase 1 into Chase 3 and the two registers and transactions would merge == and then renaming Chase 2 into Chase 3 and the same thing would happen and then reconnect the download function to. the new Chase 3, which now has all the transactions from 1 and 2 and can now be downloaded to regardless of whether the transaction is from Chase 1 or 2 - because I've just reconnected using Chase 3 and all Chase 1 and 2 transactions will download to the reconnected/newly connected Chase 3 -- is that right??? QuickBooks 2019 in all versions will discontinue this year, in May specifically. Discontinued products no longer use online services, including online banking. Use this article to learn more: QuickBooks Desktop Service Discontinuation Policy and Upgrade Information.
While you don't need to move to the online version, you're able to continue using QuickBooks Desktop for Mac 2019 to track your transactions manually. Yes, you'll disconnect each account before renaming them for the merging process.
