Web Connector removal

QBWC1056 message appears when I ask the program to remove a web connector application.  However, the message box is not large enough to show the "yes" response.  How do I remove and re-install a web connector application? I have spoken with 7 tech support individuals without a solution!

Web Connector removal

It is not the impression I would like you to have, @Briver.

I hear your sentiments. Sometimes I also need assistance from someone if I am experiencing difficulties. But I am here to help you.

You can follow these steps to remove the web connector:

  1. Make a back up of the company file.
  2. Download .QWC file for the third-party application.
  3. Download the QBWC CP3 Tool.
  4. Double-click the QBWC_CP3Tool_Installer.exe to start the installation.
  5. Open the company file in QuickBooks Desktop.
  6. On the QBWC CP3 Tool, choose Select File and locate the appropriate .QWC file.
  7. Select Remove Stamp.
  8. On the application certificate, select Yes, whenever this QuickBooks company file is open (3rd option), and select Continue.
  9. On the Application Access Request window, select Yes and Done. The tool will display a message saying that the owner ID was removed.

You can also check how to fix common Web Connector errors in QuickBooks Desktop to guide you if you encounter other errors.

Once done, you can restore the backup copy of your company file.

Tap the Reply button if you still have additional questions about removing the web connector in QuickBooks Desktop. I am always ready to help.

Web Connector removal

I have followed the instructions. The application is still unusable.

Before following the instructions above, the web connector 3rd party application had a user name that I did not place in the setup process.  After using the CP3 tool, the username is still the same incorrect user name.  Going to the user’s preferences for integrated applications I check the properties of the third-party application and the correct user name is listed.  So properties of integrated applications under preferences has a different user name (the correct user name) while the actual web connector has a "mystery" user name that I can't change. At the same time, I can't delete this web connector with the mystery name to start over.

Web Connector removal

After spending the past 15 days speaking with 10 QB support techs, I solve my issue on my own today.  I had mistakenly entered my QB user password in the web connector utility by mistake instead of the listed password provided with the 3rd party QCW file.

Web Connector removal

Hi there, Eric.

It's my priority to help you download the QWC file. Before that, I'd like to know why you can't download the file. Do you receive an error message during the process? This way, I could share the resolution to fix the issue.

Additional details are much appreciated. Just leave a comment below. Keep safe!

Web Connector removal

After spending a lot of time I was able to delete and reinstall the web connector. My issue is to delete a link to jobtread in the web connector where for some reason the password was changed and it would not let me remove the link unless I have the password from before I started to mess with it. I just want to get it as a clean slate and start the link process all over again. Any tips on how to do that would be very helpful.

Thank you for the quick response, @Eric E.

I'm happy to know that you've reinstalled the Web Connector successfully. I'll help you delete the link in the web connector to get a clean slate and start the link process again.

Usually, you can delete an app from Web Connector by following these steps:

  1. Select EditPreference, and then Integrated Applications.
  2. Select Company preferences.
  3. Select the app you want to remove, select Remove, and then OK.

If you're asked for a password and happen to forget it. I recommend reaching out to our Support Team for further assistance. A live representative can look into your account securely and help reset the password if needed.

For more tips, while managing applications in the Web Connector, check out this article: Set up QuickBooks Web Connector.

Additionally. here's how you can fix common Web Connector errors in QuickBooks Desktop.

Post again if you have follow-up questions with Web Connector. I'll be here to help. Have a good day!

So this didn't work for me, or at least my specific problem. I am able to go into the company file, and remove all integrated apps, but that still doesn't allow me to remove it from the web connector itself, it just keeps saying "make sure the company file is open, and the right company file". Well, we only have one company file, and it is open, so don't know why it won't remove from web connector? And of course, because it won't remove, it also won't re-install because "that fileID already exists and there is no need to add it again."

Web Connector removal

Thanks for joining in on this thread, Mr_E. Let me help you rectify your concern when removing integrated applications on your Web Connector.

With QuickBooks Desktop, to enable us to remove these applications, you'll have to perform a force removal process by removing the keys from the registry for the Web Connector. You can delete the key information from the Scheduler and SOAPWebServices.

Registry key: \HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Intuit\QBWebConnector

Once these keys are removed, you can get back to QuickBooks and remove the app from the Integrated Preferences panel. To do this:

  1. In your QuickBooks Desktop file, select Edit and click Preferences.
  2. Select Integrated Applications from the left menu options.
  3. Select the MSO Manager service under the Company preferences tab and click Remove.
  4. Open the MSP manager and select the Billing tab.
  5. Create a new billing batch or select an existing batch.
  6. Select the Review and Export Invoices tab.
  7. Click QuickBooks Desktop from the Export Format dropdown menu.
  8. Then, select the Downloaded QWC File link to download the QuickBooks Web Connector file.

After the complete download, the web connector will relaunch and ask for permission to re-establish the connection with the MSP Manager. Then, complete the setup process and run the web connector.

Additionally, you can seek help through Intuit's developer forum to ensure you're guided through the whole process.

Here's how to get in touch with them:

  1. Go to this link: https://developer.intuit.com/.
  2. Click on (?) at the upper-right.
  3. Choose from options under What do you need help with?
  4. You can either select Ask a Question or search for related questions and articles.

Furthermore, I've included this reference to help you fix common errors with your QWC: Fix common Web Connector errors in QuickBooks Desktop.

We're always available in this forum if you require additional assistance managing your Web connector apps. Feel free to leave them in the comments below. Have a good one!

I also was having trouble with removing a connection between JobTread and QB Desktop. I tried going to edit > preferences > integrated applications > company preferences and deleted the JobTread application listing. However, when I went back into the QWC (QuickBooks Web Connector) the connection was still listed there.

This set of steps from  FateCandylaneT is what worked for me:

"With QuickBooks Desktop, to enable us to remove these applications, you'll have to perform a force removal process by removing the keys from the registry for the Web Connector. You can delete the key information from the Scheduler and SOAPWebServices.
