Buy nowHello everyone,
My main questions are listed below:
1. When does the ND file get updated?
2. Where is the data getting pulled to update the ND file?
I have a client setup with QuickBooks 2021 Premier with an on-site server hosting the QB Company file. They have two users who work both on-site and remotely.
I got the QB Multi-user setup and it was working great when in use on the local network. For remote access, I setup Tailscale on the QB server and mounted the shares via the Tailscale IP. This tested fine but the next day, the client started reporting H202 errors using Tailscale.
It looks like the NB file was updated and the file path is now pointing to a UNC path with the Tailscale IP and is set to single-user mode.
I find the NB file getting updated with bad info to be pretty weird behavior and was hoping to get some insight on it.
Hello CBUser,
Thank you for providing clear information about the issue you are facing. I'll be happy to help you resolve the error your client encountered.
In response to your main questions, please note that the Network Data (.ND) is automatically recreated whenever you open the company file or scan the company files via QuickBooks Database Server Manager. The data that updates the ND file is pulled from the company file.
About your third-party provider for your remote data hosting, I recommend contacting their technical support to get helped with your data hosting concerns.
On another note, the Error H202 occurs when you try switching from single user to multi-user mode. This means something is blocking the connection to your server. To resolve this, there are a number of steps you can take. They are outlined below for your reference.
You can read this article for the detailed steps: How to fix Error H202 and H505.

Tailscaleis a cheap solution but not reliable enough to run QB Desktop. You should consider another solution.
