Hi,
I've spent 7 hours over 5 different calls and chats about this issue since September. I was told i'd receive email updates. Nothing from INTUIT.
Any other suggestions. Can you reach out to them for us?
Mine does not work. But we're being charged up to 4% processing fees manually inputting the info the card swiper use to to take in. YAY!
Someone is winning in this INTUIT.
I was told I'd be updated daily by email. I knew that wasn't going to happen, but I've gotten nothing about it ever. I bet if something in their system was broken and they could display all the ads for us to buy additional products from them they'd have it fixed within the hour!
I lost my button this week. One weird thing about this is that if you go to the payments portal directly, you can still swipe cards with the MagTek. Also weird is that sales and support are completely clueless about it. Can we be the only three companies using QBO that take payments? Astonishing.
HI
OK,
Here's what I learned today with CHAT.
If you are on the New Experience? version of QBO the credit card swipe feature is removed and will not be replaced. We will have to manually input card info with added fees for doing so.
If you are in the Old Experience? the credit card swiper will work. So don't update to the experience.
You can't go back when you do, I am still confused with this because I never updated my experience.
As a suggestion you can backup your company offline, stop your subscription. Then restart it, upload your company info and NOT move to the new experience.
Oh, forgot to mention to backup you need to first upgrade your current subscription in order to back it up.
When migrating last May from desktop, NONE of this information was explained. But apparently it's all in the fine print when the bait and switch happened.
There was a post from an expert in the CHAT referencing INV102181 and 102241 investigations. The are closed. The reason is that since the customer can key in the info it's a workable solution.
This is not the news I wanted but it is the reality.
QBO got our money, wasted our time and caused undo distress without accountability or responsibility with no explanation as to why.
Let me know what alternative software you recommend to try.
Hey there, @flytint.
We'd greatly appreciate it if you could provide us with more details about your concern.
We'll be waiting for your response.
Hi,
Take a minute and read thru this post from the beginning. It explains the issue we are having with the credit card swiper and QB lack of communication on the removal of features.
More Details! Ha, Ha, Ha...........
I assume this "New Experience" Is the new layout for Invoices and Estimates. The thing is I'm not totally sure that we even had a choice as to whether we updated to that or not. I think it was just gradually rolling out to everyone. I know my has the new Invoice and Estimates layout options so I'm assuming that mine has been upgraded. Funning thing is my wife does most of my bookwork and she hates the new layout so she always switches back to the old layout, but apparently just switching the screen layout doesn't change the swipe feature back.
It kinda makes sense that this is exactly what they've done because The "new experience" layout does not apply to the sales receipts layout, only the invoices. Which is probably why we can still use it on the Receive Payments screen.
The only reason I used Quickbooks Payments was because of the auto syncing of the payments and fees right into QB. That is a great feature, but now we've lost that feature for sales receipts. So if I need to switch to another processing service to get the cheaper processing fees I might as well use that same processor for everything else also.
The trouble is in order to let your customers pay invoices online you still need to have QB Payments account. So they gotchya anyway. It's just absolutely insane!
Well I just lost the swipe feature from the Receive Payments screen also! It worked once this morning, then the next time I tried it today it was gone. Why won't they just acknowledge that they want to charge us more for processing so this is how they're going about it?
I guess they should remove this from the Community site.
I'll tell you what I finally did and I'm pretty happy with the solution. I bought the swiper that Intuit sells and I bought this Android Tablet from Amazon.
UMIDIGI G1 Tab mini Android 14... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CR19C62F?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
I installed the GoPayment app. Done.
Are you able to print receipts with that setup? I have their Bluetooth Reader because I used it with the Desktop version before I had to switch to Online. It doesn't work with the Windows version or QB Online however.
The actual QB online mobile app seems to be more flexible than GoPayments. I know that on an iPad you can print directly to a WiFi printer with it. I'm not sure about the Android version and it's options.
It is just beyond comprehension how they are just leaving us in the dirt here.... Absolutely unacceptable.
So, Has anyone had the swipe capabilities return to your Sales Receipts? Last week the "Swipe Card" button reappeared on mine. I'm not holding my breathe but for now it's back.
Mine works again. It now prompts for country, but other than that it's the same as before. I have only run one test transaction with it. Fingers crossed.
Be sure to log into Quickbooks Payments, view those transaction details by selecting the trasaction and see if it is registering as "swiped". My "swipe card" feature came back on and we were using it for about 6 business days. I had to log into that site to check an eCheck fee and noticed all my credit card fees seemed rather high (we have quite a few repeat dollar amounts so these variants in fees stood out to me). I clicked on the most recent one where I 100% knew I "swiped" the card and sure enough it was charging me the non-swiped fee and the details of that transaction show "swiped?..... NO". I now have a case open with them to get my money refunded for these transactions and we are back to processing payment through the Quickbooks Payments login (that swipe card feature has always worked). Very frustrating. I wish there was a better alternative to QB we could easily migrate to.
