Why am i getting QBO ID is NULL or EMPTY

By coincidence, I just now ran into the same error message.  An employee name was entered incorrectly.  We figured out that the personal information section must be completed with all the required information before it can be saved.  Then we were able to delete the employee..

Why am i getting QBO ID is NULL or EMPTY

Hi, Vtori67 and mikebeattycpa. Yes, the personal information section must be completed with all the required details. It may cause an error if the employee's name is entered incorrectly.

If the issue persists you'll need to log in to a private window then review the details you've entered and make sure it's correct.

Once you've verified the details are accurate, you can perform the basic troubleshooting process. Let me guide you with the steps below:

  • Google Chrome: Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Microsoft Edge: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Safari: Command + Shift + N

If the private browsing session works, you can clear the browser's cache in your regular browser to improve the program's performance.

In addition, you can check this article if you want to learn how to download your data: Export reports, lists, and other data from QuickBooks Online.

If you have any other concerns or clarification on updating employee details. Please don't hesitate to comment down below. Stay safe.

Yes my payroll is active.   I have called you  and you got two of them active. - I shouldnt not have to call each time  I need an employee active.

Your support doesn't help. This problem happened for me in two different companies! One had only 3 employees and I had to spend hours on phone with your awful customer service reps and they did fix but didn't even know how they fixed it. So now I have the problem with a second company. Just like the OP I am seasonal. So I am going to have to deal with this as my employees return for the summer. Quickbooks is terrible. Next season I will find new payroll accounting software. So much wasted time and frustration with this terrible company.

Don't waste your time calling.

The only way I can get it to work was in an incognito browser and I had to keep changing their pay schedule from weekly to every other week and back a few times and eventually they just show up to pay.

Don't waste your time trying to delete the employee and reenter - then you will find a new error "Quickbooks already has an employee with this SSN or DOB" and it won't let you move forward.

Can wait to find a new payroll provider!!! Good Luck
