Why do payroll check and vendor check alignments not match when printing?

When I print payroll checks the "pay to" field isn't offset properly and it's printing in the wrong position on the check. I don't see any way to change it during the alignment process.

The image link below is what's happening. The top is how my vendor checks are set up, with the "pay to" name offset to the right.

The bottom is how payroll checks are printing, I need to move the "pay to" name over to the right to match the top check layout.

I can share some information as to why your vendor and payroll check don't match, NYCB.

When printing checks, the alignment will depend on how you adjust the set-up of your print checks, as there are several reasons to consider. Let's figure out those reasons to ensure payroll check printing preferences are correctly set up. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Gear Icon.
  2. Choose Payroll Settings.
  3. Select the Preferences tab.
  4. Pick Paycheck Printing Settings.
  5. Choose the type to print your pay stubs and checks.
  6. Make sure that the Preprinted QuickBooks-compatible check paper is selected.
  7. Click on Align Checks, then follow the instructions on-screen.
  • The check is printing too high
    • Enter a letter after the letter K (L to X) to move the information down.
  • The check is printing too low
    • Enter a letter before the letter K (A to J) to move the information up.
  • The check is printing too far left
    • Enter a number more than 5 (6 to 9) to move the information to the right.
  • The check is printing too far right
    • Enter a number less than 5 (0 to 4) to move the information to the left.

       8. Select the Update Settings button.

       9. Click the OK button.

After that, ensure you have the latest version of Adobe Acrobat Reader installed. Also, you can check the other troubleshooting steps for browser and software issues and see how to configure your print settings for printing checks.

Why do payroll check and vendor check alignments not match when printing?

Thank You. It's not made clear in the set up that changing the number will shift the entire check format over.

Why do payroll check and vendor check alignments not match when printing?

I can move it over as far as it will go and it still does not let the employee name clear the "Pay to the Order of" we had no problem until about a month ago. Printing checks for vendor payments or expenses are OK - it is just payroll checks we cannot get to align no matter what we do!

Why do payroll check and vendor check alignments not match when printing?

I'm having the same issue. Payroll checks and vendor checks print with different alignment. I cannot get the payroll check to demonstrate proper alignment - the spacing between the "Pay To", Amount, address and memo are incorrect.

Why do payroll check and vendor check alignments not match when printing?

A proper alignment for your payroll check is essential right now, originalee. I have information about this and let me share it with you.

If your preprinted checks are from QuickBooks, you can adjust the alignment using the steps provided by my colleague above. If you have already tried these steps and the alignment is still incorrect, I recommend contacting our support team. They can further investigate to determine the root cause of the issue. Here's how to contact them:

  1. Log in to your QuickBooks Online company.
  2. On the upper right corner of your screen, click on Help (?).
  3. Select or type Contact Us.
  4. Start entering your concern, then select Let's Talk.
  5. Please choose a way to connect with us:
  • Assistant tab and select Talk to a human.
  • Search tab and click on Contact Us to connect with a support expert.

However, if the preprinted check is not from QuickBooks, you won't be able to adjust the payroll check alignment.

Why do payroll check and vendor check alignments not match when printing?

The same thing is happening to me - I called and talked to quickbooks - redid all of the things I had already done and still having a problem - this also occured within the last several weeks before that we had NO trouble. Obviously quickbooks has made some kind of change. We have to print over 100 payroll checks weekly and it is not fun to have to download to adobe and fix each check to employee name does not print over the Pay to the Order of on the check stock.
