Why do sales reports sorted by "ship to state" or "bill to state" for all Amazon Sales default to the state of Connecticut? All other sales on Shopify report correctly.

Hi there,

The reports you see in QuickBooks Online for all Amazon sales will depend the integration mapping with Amazon.

I recommend checking and cross-referencing the shipping/billing data for Amazon sales within the integration tool you're using. Ensure that the Ship to State and Bill to State fields are properly filled in Amazon's reports before they are imported into QBO. Since Shopify sales are reporting correctly, compare the mapping settings between Amazon and Shopify integrations. Identify any differences in how state-specific data is imported.

If the problem persists, I recommend contacting your integration tool's support team to check for issues on how the data is imported to QBO.

Feel free to leave a reply if you have additional concerns in QBO. We're always ready to help.

I believe Ship to/Bill to fields are imported into QBO correctly.   All the Amazon sales receipts are actually "ship to" Florida.  The report is sorting based on "bill to" field but to audit the report I added the "Ship to" column.   I first became suspicious when I tried to sort by "ship to" and the state of Connecticut had so many sales when I knew something was wrong.  So then I prepared the "bill to" report to see what was happening.  Then I compared several dozen Amazon sales receipts in QBO to the original data in Amazon  and found that the "Ship to" and "Bill to" were 100% correct in QBO.  I then realized the Amazon "ship to" was somehow being overridden for reporting purposes in QBO.

Is there some other field in QBO that could be overriding the correct underlying data when the report is being generated?

Overriding correct data in QuickBooks Online (QBO) depends entirely on the data it receives from Amazon through the integration, Robhovde1954.

When it comes to how your data is reflected in QBO, it is important to note that its mapping and display rely on the third-party application you are using.

In other words, QBO functions as a receiving portal for the data provided by Amazon. If the data mapping between Amazon and QBO is not accurate or complete, it can result in discrepancies in how the data is shown in reports.

However, in QBO reporting, the default date is set to the earliest transactions, followed by the oldest. Regarding sorting by Ship To, it is based on alphanumeric order. Please check your transactions for any extra spaces or characters in the Ship To column, as these can affect the sorting results.
