Why is QB charging my clients 25 for a processing fee on a $125 invoice?

Hi there, Mcfaddenor. The convenience fee is applied directly to your clients when they choose to pay the invoice via ACH bank transfer. This feature helps your business receive payments securely and conveniently without incurring processing fees yourself.

The fee is tied specifically to using the ACH option for payment, as QuickBooks doesn’t currently charge processing fees to merchants for these transactions. If you prefer not to offer this option to your customers or don’t want them paying the fee, you can easily disable it in your QuickBooks Online settings:

  1. Go to Settings by clicking the gear icon in the top right corner.
  2. Select Account & Settings and then Sales tab.
  3. Scroll to the Invoice Payments section.
  4. Uncheck the box next to Your customer pays the fee.

Additionally, deposits for ACH payments are processed in 5 business days instead of next-day deposits which are typically available for other online payment methods like credit cards. You can access this helpful article for more insights: Let your customers pay invoices by ACH bank payment with a convenience fee.
