Buy now & saveHello, I'm having an issue migrating my attached receipts to my existing transactions on the 2023 Quickbooks Desktop Premier file to the 2024 Quickbooks Desktop Premier.
When I open the new 2024 file, the transition is seamless with all the data, but when I go into the transaction and try to view the attached receipts, they are not viewable, and I get an error code that says, "Failed to open the file."
Can we migrate all the transactions with receipts attached without having to attach all the receipts manually from the last two years?

Hi Pavlo,
In QuickBooks Desktop, you have the option to attach multiple files to a transaction, which can help you keep everything organized. When you attach a file to a transaction, it's actually saved into an attachments folder located in the same directory as your company file. This means that when you upgrade QuickBooks Desktop or restore a backup, those files may not appear because the company file doesn't have a link to the attachments folder like the original.
To restore this link, you can repair it by following these steps:
If the attachments folder is no longer available and wasn't saved or copied, the only way to retrieve the attachments would be to reattach them to the transactions.

When I set up the new QuickBooks 2024 file, I added "v3" to the end of my business name as version 3.
I had a connection issue because the business file name did not match. I needed to include "v3" in the file name, which prevented the file from being repaired in Quickbooks.
The connection/repair with the receipts will only work if the file name is identical.
EXAMPLE: Your business file name is "Bill Joe Bob LLCv3."
When you open the "Attach" file, the business name needs to match "Bill Joe Bob LLCv3."
Thank you, Jess!
I'm glad to hear that my colleague was able to help you solve the issue with your QuickBooks 2024 file name, @Pavlo.
It's important to ensure that the file name matches exactly when attempting to connect or repair the file, including any additional identifiers such as "v3" in your case.
