Join nowHey everyone,
I'm providing consultation for a company that's looking for an accounting system. I've been looking at QuickBooks but haven't been able to find a comprehensive listing of all the features each version offers. From my research it seems that only the desktop version offers multiple units of measure, but does not offer remote access. Is this correct? The customer requires both features. I would appreciate very much any assistance with selecting the correct version of QuickBooks.
Background: This is for a business that sells aggregate, provide transport for said aggregate, and also does heavy equipment rentals.
Required features:
If you prefer QuickBooks Online, you will need to have a 3rd party app to manage Unit Measurement feature at the moment and integrate it with your QuickBooks Online account later.

Currently they have been developing a bundle solution for QuickBooks Online with the enhanced feature (including U/M feature) and will be release (probably) in Q2 2022.
If you prefer QuickBooks Desktop, you may choose Premier edition with a one time license. Deploy a private cloud at your premise or put your license on an authorized QB cloud hosting. Is your client located in the US or another country?
Thanks for the info Lux.
We are located in the Caribbean, Trinidad & Tobago.
Would the desktop version allow for smartphone access?
If your client is located in Trinidad & Tobago, you should use QBO Online Global version for Trinidad & Tobago, not US version.

But I would recommend your client using QB Desktop Premier instead with a one time license. Then deploy a private cloud at their premise to let Android/iOS devices access your QuickBooks file later.

Contact us in private and we may help to provide the QuickBooks license for your client and/or discuss about your private cloud deployment.
Ok no problem. I'll pitch to them and if they decide on QB as their platform of choice I'll reach out to you.
Thanks for the assistance!
