Rename Attach folder to attach.old as work around for performance issue opening lots of files from TXN folder

I was told by support a few hours ago that a temp work around for the performance problem is to rename the attach folder to attach.old?

The performance problem is after an update last Friday, some user logins are causing hundreds of files to open from the attach\company name folder\txn

It seems to me that renaming that folder would break QB's function? They said it wouldn't but I don't believe them.
Anyone else try this crazy temp fix?

Yes, it will break your access to the existing attachments, and then QB will create a new folder with the original name for any new attachments.

I suppose the alternative to this sort of workaround nonsense would be for Intuit to fix their screw up. I wonder if that has occurred to them as an option? It is sort of an advanced idea, I guess.
