Buy now & saveWhen creating a new item the item ID is auto-assigned and incremented by 1 from the last item. We are up around 25,000 now but cleared out a ton of old inventory (down to about 3,000 items) - is there any way to have the ID restart at the beginning and fill in the gaps?
For example, if we deleted items 1-5 and 8-10 but kept 6-7, can we have the next new item start at ID 1, then 2, 3, 4, 5, and then skip to 8, 9, and 10?
This is for QuickBooks Desktop POS 19.

Hope you're having a great day, chazbot7!
That was a massive cleaning you did. The good news is there is a setting in your inventory preferences that allows you to reset the order of your item number. Currently used numbers will also be skipped.
Before following the steps below, please back up your company file to keep a copy of your current data.
When you create the next item, just assign number 1 and the increment starts from there. You may create 2-3 dummy items for experience purposes, and delete them after.
If you have additional questions about your items, feel free to go back to this thread. Take care always!
