My laptop with QB Desktop 2024 has to go to the shop for repair. I made a backup of my data and tried to restore the data to another laptop with QB Desktop 2023 version. It does not work. Does anyone have any suggestions for me? I will not be able to accept credit card payments for about 2 weeks while my laptop is out for repair. Thank you in advance.

Why not just install QB Desktop 2024 on your spare notebook? You are allowed to install and run a license for one user on 2 different machines as long as you do not run them simultaneously.
Restoring backup data from QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) 2024 to QBDT 2023 isn't possible due to compatibility issues inherent in the software's design, D Carswell. I'd be glad to provide additional information on this matter.
QuickBooks Desktop has company file limitations when using it for another product, version, or edition. While you can upgrade your file from an older version to a newer one, you can't use the upgraded file in the older version. This means a backup created in QBDT 2024 can't be restored in QBDT 2023. As Chrea mentioned, I recommend installing the QBDT 2024 version on your spare laptop to restore your backup file. You can also utilize the Customer Account Management Portal (CAMPS) to download the product and find your license number.
Here's how to download and install the QBDT 2024 version:
While your primary laptop is in repair and unable to process credit card payments through QuickBooks, consider using alternative online payment platforms.
Additionally, sending invoices via email and requesting payments through bank transfers or checks can be effective until your system is operating again.
