Sales Rep Type

When I created a sale rep, I put in the wrong type.  I created it as a vendor and it needs to be employee.  I need to change it.  When I go to edit the type, it doesn't let me.  Is this a function that needs to be done in single user mode?  Or how can I change it?

Sales Rep Type

Hello there, @71323user1.

Let me share about changing the sales rep from vendor type to an employee in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).

Editing sales rep from vendor type to employee is not an option. However, you can make the vendor type inactive and recreate another sales rep as an employee in QuickBooks Desktop.

Here's how to make the vendor inactive:

  1. Go to List.
  2. Tap Customer & Vendor Profile List.
  3. Choose Sales Rep List.
  4. Double click the Sales Rep Name and click the tick box Sales Rep is inactive.

Once done, you can now create new sales rep that is employee type.

  1. Go to List.
  2. Tap Customer & Vendor Profile List.
  3. Choose Sales Rep List.
  4. Click the drop-down arrow beside Sales rep.

Lastly, I'm adding this article to see steps on how you can create a sales order from scratch or from an estimate: Create a sales order.

Let me know if you need further help to adding sales rep. I'm always here to help. Have a great rest of the day!

You can't change the name type for vendors or customers or employees. However, you can change the sales rep type on the rep record.

The sales rep type is a result of the type of name selected, the "Sales Rep Name:" when creating or editing a rep record.

To change it, edit the rep record and pick a name of a different type as the base Sales Rep Name.
