Send 1099 as single-member LLC?

I have a single-member LLC which is a disregarded entity for tax purposes.  I paid a business over $1000 this past year for professional services.  Do I (the LLC) need to send them a 1099?

Send 1099 as single-member LLC?

We value you for joining our community,kbow2. I can provide the necessary information to answer your queries.

I understand you're questioning whether a single-member LLC must file a 1099 form, despite being disregarded for tax purposes. The answer is yes. If your business has paid more than $600, you're obligated to submit a 1099-NEC form to the IRS.

In QuickBooks Online, it's important to input the full name and company details into the vendor's profile. This ensures that both the individual's and the LLC's names appear in the recipient's name box when preparing your 1099-NEC form.

I can walk you through this process to help you get started. Here's how you can create and edit your vendor's profile:

  1. Navigate to the Expenses menu and select the Vendors tab.
  2. Locate and choose the vendor you wish to edit, then click the Edit button at the top.
  3. Fill in the full name details, including First, Middle, and Last name.
  4. Enter your LLC name in the Company field.
  5. In the Display name as box, input a different name, typically the same as the person's name.
  6. Click Save.
