We have had 2 users in the past week working with two different company files start experiencing the issue with changes to the body of the email not being carried over when the email is sent. Both are using QuickBooks Enterprise Desktop and they are the only individuals experiencing this issue where other users working from the same company file are not.
While the workaround of saving the email as a draft and editing the draft before sending is working, this is adding extra steps to their workflow and given the number of invoices they send in a day, it is adding up. Has anyone come up with an actual fix for this or do we have an estimate of when we can expect a fix? I have not been able to find any information online that indicates a cause or permanent solution to the issue.
Both users are working from a network environment with a server-hosted QuickBooks database. Both are using Microsoft 365 Apps for Business backed by MS365 accounts (Exchange Online mailboxes). This issue cropped up randomly last week. These are separate company files and separate networks.
Hi there, @Pelstar Computers.
I'll share troubleshooting steps to help fix your problem when emailing invoices via Outlook.
In QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT), we have the QuickBooks Tool Hub that we can use to repair the desktop program. But before doing so, I suggest updating your QuickBooks Desktop to the latest release to have the latest features and product improvements.
Once done, download and install the QuickBooks Tool Hub. Let me show you how:
For the complete process, see this article: Repair your QuickBooks Desktop for Windows.
After that, copy and paste to and send forms from Outlook or use the send forms area. However, if the issue persists, I suggest visiting this resource for more troubleshooting steps: How to fix "Error: QuickBooks is unable to send your email to Outlook".
Drop me a comment below if you have any other concerns about emailing the invoice. I'll be happy to help you some more.
We have tried this solution and all of the other bandaid fixes that are suggested throughout the forums. It doesn't fix the issue. We have run the tool against the client as well. If this were a problem with the company file, I would expect it to affect more than just one user.
We have seen reports of this issue since the beginning of 2021 and the QuickBooks Tool Hub is always suggested and never works. The only "fix" for the issue is the various workarounds suggested (webmail, edit drafts, etc.).
Is there any information from someone at Intuit in regards to the cause and when we can expect the issue to be fixed?

I am seeing the same issue again, now with multiple clients on both 2022 and 2023 versions of QuickBooks Premier
For a temporary fix see this thread-
Hello there, @Kevin_V.
I have confirmed with our backend team that being able to edit the body of the email from within the invoices is no longer an option in QuickBooks Desktop.
We recognize that each company has unique needs, and I can see how the feature you're looking for would benefit and empower your business. In the meantime, I recommend sending this request straight to our product engineers through feedback.
To send feedback, here's how:
You can also visit this page or the What's New section on your QBDT to get updates on our latest news about product improvements.

Let me know if you have other concerns while managing QuickBooks. I'll get back to you right away. Have a great day.
If this is no longer an option, why is it only affecting some users? Is there a specific update to 2021 and 2022 that removes the ability to edit Outlook emails or is it specific to a version/build of Outlook? Both companies have users that are working from the same company file with the same version of the software within the company and they can still edit emails sent from QuickBooks through Outlook.
If you read the above posting from me, on the MS page, they are looking into the problem. On about the 5th page, there is a registry adjustment that will temporarily fix the issue, until they can find a more permanent solutions. It does appear this is a joint issue between MS and Intuit that at least one group is trying to fix.
