If your QuickBooks Desktop is suspended, you can sign up for a QBO account using a web browser and then transfer your file online with the migration tool. If it’s still active, you can use the built-in migration tool. For now, let’s focus on getting you signed up for QBO.
To sign up for a QBO account:
Once you have your QBO account, check out this article: Move your QuickBooks Desktop file to QuickBooks Online. Go to Step 3 and follow the directions for the web-based migration tool to transfer your file.
If your QuickBooks Desktop is still active, use the steps in the section for the built-in migration tool instead.
You can also check this article on setting up your chart of accounts in QBO to help you when it’s time to file your taxes: Add an account to your chart of accounts in QuickBooks Online.
