Thanks for the "improved" shipping manager Intuit

So far I've gathered the below from trial and error along with other community posts:

Cannot preset package details and weight.
Cannot use customers shipping account.
Multiple packages in one shipment is not possible.
Negotiated shipping rates are not properly implemented.
Previous manager allowed your invoice number to reflected on the label.
There are no reports that can be downloaded.
If you have different locations with different UPS account numbers, the system does not allow this.

I'm sure a community manager will reply with some boilerplate response that provides no solutions or answers.

I understand how important it is to you and for your business to have all of these very useful features that were in the last shipping manager. But now we have a new one! So new and shiny!

Rest assured, Intuit did a bunch of market research and has determined that the features you mention are not important. Soon, you will learn to love the new shipping manager without all that cumbersome clutter.

Further, while this has nothing at all to do with your suggestion, would you like to know more about some reports related to shipping?

----------------------------

Seriously though, what you're seeing is a recent trend with QuickBooks Online: Intuit will overhaul a feature and in doing so create a "new, modern experience" and in the process remove significant functionality, dumbing down the feature to the point of near uselessness.

I can't fathom what they're thinking. I can hardly remember one time they did this to QuickBooks Desktop. Do they think no one will notice? Or, perhaps that everyone will keep paying anyway, so it doesn't really matter?

I would check out StarShip.  I know they have a LOT of customers leveraging their QuickBooks app for shipping.  It definitely supports multi-piece, 3rd party billing accounts and dashboards/reports.

It has been almost 6 months since my post and Intuit has failed to properly address the issues with the new shipping manager. What an embarrassment of an launch and implementation. Inuit managers prove once again they are completely tone deaf.

Here's some of the great features from the "New & Improved" shipping manager.

  • No default shipment details
  • phone number errors out with "-" included
  • Must confirm address each time
  • Must confirm shipping service selection each time.
  • Shipping manager only provides initial tracking number, will not provide any additional label tracking ids.
  • Opens to PDF rather than printing directly to the printer.
  • No return label generation
