I am attempting to transfer a company file from QBO to Quickbooks Accountant Desktop. I have done this many times in the past and used the steps I have seen on multiple community pages to do the transfer. Every time I add exportqbodatatoqbdt. to the end of my url after app/ I get error "404 Page not found". I have changed the browser, I have switched to administrator mode, I have used incognito mode and I get the same error. Is there something I'm missing? Does that no longer work at all? What other options do I have to get the company file moved to QB desktop?
Make sure you are converting data from QBO US version to a supported QBD US version (i.e 2020-2023). Last resort, you can purchase a 3rd party conversion service.
Hello, sherren78.
You're doing the correct steps. Using incognito or changing the browser helps in fixing the 404 error. Since none of the steps help, I'd like to lay down a solution to help you migrate your data over to QuickBooks Desktop.
The Migration Tool is still available to help you migrate to QuickBooks Desktop. There might be some issues with the migration page, which is why you're getting an error message.
Since you've done all you can to fix it, what we can do now is to workaround the error by downloading the Migration Tool directly. Click on this link to download it: https://http-download.intuit.com/http.intuit/CMO/quickbooks/MigrationTool/setup.exe.
Simply install it afterwards. Go back to QuickBooks and proceed with the export process. We can add the exportqbodatatoqbdt link again if you closed out the browser.
In the event that you're still getting the error message (or you can't see the export steps after installing), we'll want to contact our support. Our agents would use their tools to fix the error message and help you migrate your data over to QuickBooks Desktop.
Here's how to reach them:
Aside from using the Migration Tool, another option for us to move your data is to export your lists and balances. This article will guide you through the process: Move lists and balances from QuickBooks Online to QuickBooks Desktop.
We can also use a third-party conversion service, as what Fiat noted in their reply. Alternatively, we can look for an app in our App Center page for similar offers: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/app/apps/home/.
I'll include this article in case you need some references about moving your data over to Desktop: Move your QuickBooks Online data to QuickBooks Desktop.
After fixing the issue and migrating your data to QuickBooks, we can run reports to verify your books. I'll share this article to help you pull up a specific report and how to utilize the functions: Understand reports.
Drop your reply below if you have more questions about managing your data between Online and Desktop. Would like some assistance in managing your books sometime after converting? Let me know and I'll help you out.
