trouble with 2 computers same network won't connect

so we have QB Enterprise 2023 on desktop PC's and we are having problems with one of the computers (slave) not connecting with the server (mine). we are connected through a router/modem hardwired and the slave computer keeps getting a message saying to have the server be in multi user mode - which it always is. Sometimes we have to shut down both computers then it (slave) will connect, we have also tried putting my QB in single user mode for a few minutes then change back to multi user mode, then the slave will connect????? any ideas on why the slave keeps losing connection with the server??? thank you in advance for any advice.

If the two computers are in a Workgroup then you’re going to need to ensure that user accounts exist on both machines. Also, check the Share permissions where the Company File is located. Lastly, for the computer that is hosting the company file make sure to use a static IP Address since the IP Address may change frequently depending on the lease of your dhcp configuration in your gateway. In this model share permissions and settings are key.
