Unable to update Quickbooks

Each time that I open Quickbooks, I receive an message that an update is available and I lack required permissions. I have tried every possible troubleshooting tip and still see this message.  Now I can't get Payroll to update either which means that I can't generate paychecks and now quarterly reports.  I have no idea how to proceed. I am told that the message is # 15103.  Can anyone help me?

Unable to update Quickbooks

Hi there, @Tonya28

Thanks for letting us know about your concerns. I'm here to help ensure your QuickBooks is updated to the latest release.

First off, make sure you log in as an administrator to permit the updates, and to make the admin aware of the updates on the account.

To make sure, you can check if you successfully login as an administrator by following these steps below:

  1. Go to the Company menu.
  2. Select the Users tab.
  3. Choose View Users.

Check if you logged on as Admin. If not, then contact the admin to help you update your QuickBooks Desktop account.

Additionally, you must exit the multi-user mode to properly update in single-user mode. Once updates are distributed you can return to multi-user mode.

For more detailed information on updating QuickBooks Desktop, check out this link: Update QuickBooks Desktop to the latest release.

Reach out to me again if you have other questions. I'm always here to help.
