Update Intuit Admin Contact

Hello!  I am trying to help a friend recover their QB Company information.  The business was an LLC with 2 members.  One of the members passed away suddenly in October.  Quickbooks was installed on the deceased member's laptop which we do not know the password for so we decided to install QB on another laptop and then load the company file from a back-up.  We were able to install QB but received an error when trying to activate the payroll subscription.  We contacted support but could not proceed because the deceased member was listed as the Admin on the Intuit account.  Can someone please let us know how to get this updated so we can get payroll running?  Thanks!

Let me route you to the best support available to get you back in working order. I recommend getting in touch with our Support Team. From there, they can securely check your account and assist you with changing the admin access to the company files in QuickBooks.

 

To reach them in your QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT):

  1. Go to the Help menu.
  2. Select QuickBooks Desktop Help.
  3. Click Contact Us.
  4. Enter a brief discussion of your concern and click Continue.
  5. Click on Start a Message.

Also, I recommend checking out our Help articles page for reference. From there, you can read some great articles that can guide you in your future tasks.

As I said, we have contacted QB Support multiple times and have made NO progress on the issues. 

We have spoken to 3 different QB support team members and received 3 COMPLETELY different answers as to how to update the Admin information.  One person emailed a link to a form that needs to be submitted which required multiple documents to be submitted including a transfer or ownership which per our CPA is not needed in this case because the surviving member was a member of the original LLC.  Another said that we needed to upgrade from QB2019 to 2021 which I knew was not going to change anything on the Intuit Account.  The third told us that for $585 Intuit team members would take care of it without the need to submit any documents/forms.  Needless to say we are reluctant to contact support again and end up with yet another 'solution'.  We REALLY need to get payroll working ASAP so I thought that I would try here?
