Buy nowI have successfully upgraded from desktop 2016 to a trial version of desktop 2023 twice now. It states it was successful, however it is not maintaining the information. I need it to keep what I import so that I can then migrate to QBO Simple Plan.
The first time it imported and I could get to it and it looked great.
Tonight I went in and nothing was there, so I redid the import and it stated successful. The system locked up and would not do anything, so I have to close out. Once again it is not there.
Any ideas, to why this keeps happening?
Thank you!
When you have upgraded your file, secure the backup file and store it on your dashboard. Can you find the backup file and restore it?
Hi there, @RealInvestor. Thanks for taking the time to post your concern here.
Did you get an error when opening QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT)? Or maybe you didn't get an error, but the program is frozen. It could be that your program files and Windows operating system has damaged.
Don't worry, I know a couple of troubleshooting steps to help you resolve this and get your work done in no time.
Let's download the QuickBooks Tool Hub to resolve this error. This tool deals with network problems, company file damage, and performance issues.
Here's how to install the Tool Hub:
Then, run the Quick Fix my Program:
If you're experiencing the same issue, you can follow the additional steps outlined in this article: Fix issues when QuickBooks has stopped working.
I'm also adding this article to learn how to manage your company file when moving to a newer version: Move your company files after you switch to a new version of QuickBooks Desktop.
Let me know in the comment below if you've got additional questions about upgrading issues in QBDT. I'd be more than happy to help. Take care.
When you say - secure the backup file and store it on your dashboard - what do you mean?
And I could not find the previously saved file therefore, I went through the entire process again. I went to my old computer, placed the file on a thumb drive, saved it on the new computer and stepped through the import process again. It stated the import was successful.
Also, in response to the resolution provided, this is a brand new computer and there should not be any issue with it.
I did not receive any error. It was as thought QBD 2023 did not recognize that I had already imported the file. It started over as if I was doing it for the first time.
Its as if, every time I close out, it loses the upload that I just did.
When you say the import was success, what you get on your screen?
If your file successfully upgraded on QBD 2023, you should be able to secure a backup file. If still confused, contact me in private for assistance.
