Buy nowThank you for your valued support, Tw8020. Please rest assured that even after the discontinuation, you will still be able to use the program to enter transactions and generate reports seamlessly. I'll provide further details below.
The discontinuation will impact your access to several services associated with QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) 2022. This includes QBDT Payroll, Desktop Payments, live technical support, Online Backup, Online Banking, and other online services. Starting June 1, 2025, you will no longer receive essential security updates that protect your data.
Please refer to this article for detailed information: QuickBooks Desktop 2022 service discontinuation policy.
Since you don't want to upgrade to a newer version, you can consider migrating to QuickBooks Online: Move your QuickBooks Desktop file to QuickBooks Online.
If you have any questions regarding the QBDT discontinuation policy, please post them here in the Community, Tw8020. We are here to answer them as best as we can.
Login to your CAMPS and find your license code there. When is your renewal due date?
I cannot afford $999 for the small amount of bookkeeping clients I have, and I don't want to pass this cost along to them.
My question: If I don't renew, do I still have access to what I have, which is QuickBooks Desktop Pro 2023, or are they going to somehow shut me off?
You can renew the license and get $200 cashback through a reseller. Otherwise, switch to old QB Desktop with a non subscription license.
How is this possible? I was told I had to convert to a subscription. If an accountant sends me a file, and they are using a 2025 version, it wont work on my desktop unless I update it and to update it I had to go to subscription.
@ltm1801 There is no 2025 version.
That aside, yes; if, for whatever reason your accountant is using a later year than the one you have, it can't be opened with older versions.*
*Some third party services apparently offer an exception to this.
If an accountant sends me a file, and they are using a 2025 version
There is no QB Desktop 2025 yet.
I understand, I was simply using this year as an example. To be clearer, if I am using Desktop Pro 2021 (for example) and an accountant sends me a 2022 or 2023 (for example) file, I cannot open it, I have to convert to subscription to upgrade my Desktop Pro
If your client is using QB Desktop 2021, you have to use the same year version (2021) or QB Desktop 2021/2022 Accountant edition.
Thats my point, I have to upgrade if they are using a more recent year and Desktop Pro upgrade is by subscription only. I dont need to use the Accountant Edition, I only need to use the same year in Pro
Once you have an active subscription, you can use QB Desktop 2022-2024 to support your clients. Then you can renew the license and get cashback to reduce costs. If you only have one client, you may consider using QB Desktop 2024 Pro Plus for 2 users and split the cost between the two of you to reduce costs.
we renewed our subsrription as we got a new computer intuit down loaded on our system but installed it as as stand alone internet conection so if you dont have internet you cant use we are backed into corner i dont want the cloud
Thanks for joining the Community and getting involved with this thread, jamesbrewer.
To verify my understanding, what do you mean by you installed QuickBooks as a stand alone internet connection?
If you don't have internet, you can use QuickBooks offline. This will prevent various online-based services though.
In the event you want to use QuickBooks with its available online services, you'll need an internet connection on the computer you're using. If there's presently no internet connection available for the computer, I'd recommend getting in touch with your internet service provider to troubleshoot why there's no available internet.
I'll be looking forward to your reply. Have a wonderful Thursday!
The big downside to continuing with your 2021 version is that they just discontinued support for Quickbooks Desktop 2021. They also conveniently added a pop up window you can't avoid. So, they are forcing us to upgrade, again with heavy emphasis on the online version. It's really not nice after selling the desktop version of 2021 as a "Lifetime Activation". I talked to 4 different Intuit reps 2 days ago. Each new rep nearly doubled the price for the online version, ending at 38 something per month / per company, and I was told that the desktop version would be over $2000! Please remember, I bought my 2021 desktop version promising a lifetime activation only 3 years ago. I only called to get tech support to help me get around the pesky "activation expired" / "discontinued support" window they added. This is the first time I have ever needed "support"
So, why would I want to buy another desktop version? How soon will my activation expire on the 2024 "Lifetime Activation"?
This is Bad Intuit... very Bad... We are your customers. You should treat us better than this
Hi there, this Obdulio.
I have Quickbooks Desktop Pro Plus 2021, and year after year, until 2024, I have paid subscription annually. My subscription ends in August 2025. I don' t use payroll ni other diferent to my software.
I have read that QB Desktop Pro Plus no longer. It is true?
What do I have to do? Do I need to pay new subscription?
Please I need your help community. Please let me know everything I need to know.
Thanks a lot for your time and answers.

Intuit has ended support for Desktop 2021 since June 2024. Log in to CAMPS and you'll find your license for Desktop 2024. Intuit will support it until 2027. Alternatively, switch to QB Desktop 2021 with a non-subscription license. You won't need to renew your license. Contact @Fiat Lux - ASIA directly via email and they may offer you with some options.

Thank you for reaching out with your question. I will be happy to clarify your options regarding QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) for Mac and your plans to upgrade to macOS Ventura, salaudio.
Please note that QuickBooks Desktop 2019 for Mac will not work with macOS Ventura. Updating your Mac may cause the software to stop working or not run at all. If you are upgrading your macOS, you will need a newer version of QuickBooks that is compatible with Ventura.
If you already have an active license for the QuickBooks Desktop 2024 Mac version, you may still download and install
This version will function on macOS Ventura.
However, if you do not have an active license for the 2024 Mac version, please be aware that QuickBooks has officially discontinued its Mac desktop product line. This means you will not be able to purchase or download a new copy of QBDT 2024 for Mac at this time.
Since the Mac-specific version of QBDT has been discontinued, you may want to consider other QuickBooks solutions to ensure compatibility with your updated macOS. One option is QuickBooks Online, which is cloud-based and compatible across all platforms, including macOS Ventura and beyond. With QuickBooks Online, you will always be on the latest version without needing to worry about software compatibility.
If you'd prefer a desktop solution, QuickBooks Desktop (Enterprise) for Windows remains available. You could run this using virtualization software like Parallels Desktop to run Windows applications on your MacBook.

Got the following above email from Samantha at Quickbooks. Of course the REPLY button in her email was non-existent, so I am putting up a new post here.
WHEN IS QUICKBOOKS GOING TO WAKE UP TO THE FACT THAT THERE ARE MILLIONS OF SMALL BUSINESSES OUT HERE WHO DON'T NEED TO HAVE WEB BASED ACCOUNTING SOFTWARE, WHO CANT AFFORD THEIR MONTHLY COSTS AND CERTAINLY CAN'T AFFORD THEIR "ENTERPRISE" PRICING!
I'M FINE WITH PAYING FOR A NEW DESKTOP VERSION EVERY COUPLE OF YEARS. I DON'T WANT MY INFORMATION IN THE CLOUD, ESPECIALLY WITH THE NON-STOP DATA BREACHES THAT ARE OCCURRING.
AND THE "WE'RE NOT SUPPORTING DESKTOP ANYMORE" SIMPLY MEANS PUTTING KILL CODES IN SO THAT AS OF A CERTAIN DATE IN 2022, THE SOFTWARE SUDDENLY NO LONGER ALLOWS YOU TO IMPORT YOUR BANKING TRANSACTIONS, TRYING TO FORCE YOU TO THE ONLINE MODEL. AMAZING HOW IT WORKED YESTERDAY?
ONE WOULD THINK THAT THEY WOULD READ THE 100'S OF ONLINE FORUMS DEDICATED TO THE FACT THAT ALL THESE SMALL BUSINESSES FEEL ABANDONED BY THEM. WE DON'T HAVE 1000'S OF DOLLARS PER YEAR TO PAY FOR "ENTERPRISE" SOFTWARE. MOST OF US ARE SMALL, SOLE PROPRIETORS, WITH 3 OR FEWER EMPLOYEES. I WOULD THINK WE REPRESENT A DECENT CHUNK OF REVENUE TO THEM, BUT MAYBE NOT.
But the patronizing responses from the "experts on the forum", and THE GALL TO WASTE OUR TIME WITH "BADGES" EVERY TIME WE WRITE INTO THE FORUM, is really just insult to injury. Little hint - Small business owner's don't have time to waste with some clever marketing student's idea to "give people badges" on the Q&A forum. We come here for information and what free help we can get; this isn't Facebook to us, we don't need badges and "likes".
Have you contacted @Fiat Lux - ASIA for advise? If you don't need to run any add-ons, you can use QB Desktop 2024 on your Mac.
Thanks for your response. The last version of Quickbooks I purchased was 2019. If you know where I can buy 2024, I'd be happy to pay to download it! I was under the impression that they stopped selling it.
You should contact FIat Lux. If you are lucky, you can get a license from them.
Copy that! Thanks so much for the assist
So do you know FIAT_Lux ASIA? Are they a legitimate outfit?
Because he offered me a work around, whereby I download the trial verison of Quickbooks 2024, which has a 15 times open use limit, and then offered me a "program" that "resets the counter" "legally" in order to let me use it in perpetuity. And claims I can import my downloaded .qbo files with that. Which sounds perfect...All for "fee" of $450 + 200 cashback if I pay with a CC or ACH. It feels a little scammy to me...
This is truly a scam. A while ago when I inquired through the community board, I received a telephone call from someone claiming to be able to provide an upgrade. They wanted access to my system to do what needed to be done. I hesitated to think about this.
I attempted to call the number back and didn't get a reply. I received the call again and after a few minutes I told the guy no thanks and hung up.
The bottom line is that Intuit is not and does not offer any upgrades from QB2021 Desktop. Which is very unfortunate for us small business operators. Upgrading if one can call this an upgrade, to the Online does not allow for multiple accounts without adding each at additional costs. Then the transition is not always smooth, I have heard horror stories. So I suppose we wait until the program is so old that nothing will support it and we go back to using Excel spreadsheets and number 2 pencils...
Bottom line it is a scam in my mind...
Thanks so much for reaching out. I guess Intuit doesn't spend any money vetting these forums for scamsters...
Wow. Well, it felt too good to be true and it seems like it is. Bummer
