I just purchased a copy of QBD Pro 2018 off Ebay. Seller said the program was registered, but had been successfully uninstalled. I assumed this would allow me to legally purchase and use the program. (I am not interested in illegally obtaining or using the software. I am an accountant with several clients, and a longtime user of both QB Desktop and QB Online.) Included with the purchase is supposed to be the "original genuine disc" along with a link to download the software, and all codes needed to open and run the program. The disc has not been shipped yet, but the seller says the disc is not needed. I received an email from the seller with the link and a few codes, but for a variety of reasons, I am very suspicious of this purchase, beginning with the Lic Number he has sent me.
The Lic Number is: 6666-6666-6666-005
Before I open this link and download some incurable virus, can someone tell me if this license number is legitimate?
Thanks!
I'd say there's little to no chance that's a valid license number.
QuickBooks license numbers are always a number salad, with no apparent rhyme or reason.
That's what I thought as well. Thanks for your quick response! Much appreciated.
Why do you specifically need to use QBD 2018 Pro?
I purchased Quickbooks 2018 enterprise for extremely cheap on ebay that used a license number just like that. I've been using it for 2 years and just noticed that my net income is wrong. I have been overpaying salesreps, I have invoices that aren't showing up in reports. Vendor invoices that aren't going to the job profitability summary. I'm having a very difficult time with it. I believe that is a sales person demo license number. Not fully functional as I can plainly see. Be weary!
Thanks for joining the thread, John.
I've got the steps to help verify if your QuickBooks Desktop product license number is valid.
Before we proceed, we can perform some troubleshooting steps to address the issue with some invoices not showing on your reports. To start, let's run the Verify and Rebuild Data tools. This will help us find the most common issues in a company file and fix them.
To verify your company data, follow these steps:
Here's how to rebuild your company file data:
Once your reports are fixed, contact our QuickBooks Team so they can verify if your license number is valid. Simply click this link to connect with them outside QuickBooks: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/learn-support/en-us/contact.
On the other hand, please know that the QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise 2018 has been discontinued. Hence, you might expect some compatibility issues while running the program. For more info, please check our QuickBooks Desktop service discontinuation policy guide.
Moreover, if you want to upgrade to the newer version, consider reviewing this material: Upgrade QuickBooks Desktop Pro Plus, Premier Plus, or Enterprise.
Feel free to update us in the Community if you have additional questions about validating the QuickBooks Desktop license key or other product-related concerns. We'll be around to help.
The license code will not affect your company files. Run the Verify/Rebuild Data utility. Did you encounter any error message?
