verify data

is it possible to get a False "Failed" Verify data result?  A few times in the last year, my Verify claims it finds some errors, but it doesn't show me the errors. It wants to Rebuild, but when I hit cancel, and close the software....I reopen it without doing the Rebuild and I run the Verify again and it doesn't find any errors.  What would be causing this?

Hello there, @LANDYRAY.

Allow me to share some details about why there's no detected error on the second time you're using the Verify tool in QuickBooks Desktop.

Sometimes, an error can be eliminated by restarting the program. This is what happened in your scenario.

You can always run the Verify tool whenever you've experienced the following:

  • Discrepancies on reports, such as invoices or bills that post with negative values.
  • Names are missing from lists.
  • Pop-up errors when you use QuickBooks Desktop.
  • Deposited payments show up in the Payments to Deposit window.
  • Balance sheet reports do not show all accounts.
  • There are missing transactions.

Please take note that if you're suggested to Rebuild your file, you'll have to save a backup file in your Local drive to avoid data loss.

To know more details about these tools, you can check out this article: Verify and Rebuild Data in QuickBooks Desktop.

You can always tag my name in the comment section if you have other questions about QuickBooks. I'd be happy to answer them. Take care and have a beautiful day.
