Weird freezing issue with a particular user

Recently out of nowhere, one of my 9 users started experiencing an issue whre the entire QB screen and windows task bar flicker like a strobe, and then QB crashes. Does same thing from multiple PC's and all other users can use the same PC's with no issues. It goes like this:

User logs into QB, and qb works fine as long as you stay "within" the program. Clicking Windows start menu, or anything on taskbar, and the screen and task bar flicker like a strobe (icons from taskbar disapper and bar goes black) and qb freezes needing to be ended with task manager.

In the event log i found the following error message:

An unexpected error has occured in "Intuit Quickbooks Enterprise Solutions:Retail22":

Got unexpected error 5 in call to NetShareGetInfo path \Servername\Quickbooks22\qb enterprise 2022.qbw

From what I can tell, this is some sort of user account specific error since nobody else is having the issue regardless of computer being used. Our server is only used as file server basically, no UAC or Domain, just a workgroup with files shared.

Running QB Enterprise 22 latest patch
Windows server 2019 up to date

Workstation running windows 10 up to date

Weird freezing issue with a particular user

I know how important it is for your QuickBooks to run smoothly, and running into an error message is never fun, capandhitch2.

Great job on your preliminary troubleshooting solutions. This helps us better isolate the issue. Before we proceed with the troubleshooting steps, it is important to know the necessary system requirements. This ensures QuickBooks is compatible with your setup and will help avoid problems when you start using the program.

Then, try running the Quick Fix my Program option from the QuickBooks Tools Hub. This helps resolve common program issues. Let me show you how:

  1. Close your QBDT program.
  2. Then, download the most recent version (1.5.0.0) of the QuickBooks Tool Hub. Save the file somewhere you can easily find it.
  3. Next, open the file you downloaded (QuickBooksToolHub.exe).
  4. Follow the on-screen steps to install and agree to the terms and conditions.
  5. When finished, double-click the icon on your Windows desktop to open the tool hub.
  6. Then, from the QuickBooks Tools Hub, click Program Problems.
  7. Choose Quick Fix my Program.
  8. Start QuickBooks Desktop and open your data file.

If the steps above do not work, let's suppress your QuickBooks application. This process will help us determine if the issue is with the software or your data file. Let me guide you on how:

  1. Double-click the QBDT icon while holding down the Ctrl key.
  2. Unless QuickBooks freezes or gives you an error, don't let go of the Ctrl key until you see the "No Company Open" window.
  3. Select a company file, and press Open.

If the same thing happens, you can proceed to Solution 3 of this article: QuickBooks Desktop doesn't start or won't open. You can also repair QuickBooks Desktop to fix any damaged components in the software.

Feel free to visit our Bring in your data page for more insights about importing your data on your software.

I'd like to know how you get on after trying the steps, as I want to ensure this is resolved for you. Please reply to this post and I'll get back to you. You have a good one.
