What does "You’re not set up to collect sales tax for this sale" mean? There is no sales tax in Oregon.

About sales tax in Oregon

Oregon doesn't have a general sales or use/transaction tax. However, Oregon does have a vehicle use tax that applies to new vehicles purchased outside of the state. The tax must be paid before the vehicle can be titled and registered in Oregon.

That's nice. But, there are no sales tax implications for Oregon. There is no sales tax for which to have an implication. Why is that hard for Intuit to understand?

Hi Big Red, something not mentioned by the moderator is that QBO has a new sales tax system that you have to opt into, at least until they make it mandatory for everyone to use. I wonder if the notice you are getting is like an error message saying that you can't do what you are doing because you haven't opted in to the new system yet. I am not on the new system myself. In fact, I am going to post a question about that, since the persistent reminder to do so has not reminded me lately and I do want to opt in. If you are on the old system and you opt in to the new, I suggest you do that during the weekend so that your biz doesn't come to a grinding halt with surprises after the changeover.
