What is the point of Modern View?

We all have been suffering with being forced into Modern View as a default view for more than a year. Since it was introduced, it seems to have undergone a number of changes and redesigns, to the point where it actually seems nearly identical to Classic View.

HOWEVER despite seeming almost the same (minus some cosmetic changes), it performs significantly more poorly and the user experience is frustrating, to say the least.

For example, I'm looking at a list of transactions for a specific Account in Classic View. Then I edit a transaction and change the Account. I save the transaction and close it. The list of transactions for that Account immediately refreshes and removes the edited transaction from the list, since it is no longer under that Account. This is the expected behavior.

To the contrary, in MODERN VIEW, when I change the Account and save the transaction, the populated list of transactions does not update. So even though I'm looking at a list of transactions for a specific Account, it's now showing transactions that are no longer associated with that Account. How can this be?

Another example, changing the date range in Modern View does not immediately update the displayed date range! Instead, several more inputs are required to refresh the list of transactions.

Overall, it's just a big pain in the butt. On top of that, there's no option to disable it. So by default, it always opens to Modern View, and I always have to change it to Classic View. Another huge pain in the butt.

Why oh why do we have to deal with this? For what purpose? What are the benefits of Modern View?

Thanks in advance.

What is the point of Modern View?

Understanding the purpose behind a functionality in an application is essential, @bookkeeper4life. With that, let me share some insights about the purpose of viewing your reports in Modern View in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

Modern View has several improvements that make it easier for users to manage their financial reports. One big change is that reports load faster, which also helps reduce crashes.

Additionally, it has better user permissions to keep your data safe, ensuring that only authorized people can see it. Also, you seamlessly create templates and customize them to show the information you need.

These changes are helpful for anyone who works with numerous reports and needs a smooth, reliable experience.

RE: HOWEVER despite seeming almost the same (minus some cosmetic changes), it performs significantly more poorly and the user experience is frustrating, to say the least.

QuickBooks Online is soooo buggy. It defies the imagination.

And as you point out, the big new features like 'modern' reports and the 'modern' sales forms are significantly lacking, even by QuickBooks Online's low standards.  There's nothing really modern about them at all.

RE: Overall, it's just a big pain in the butt.

Yes, QuickBooks Online is also that!
