I handle I.T. support on a contract basis for a QB Online customer, so I am seeing both sides of this issue:

• Thursday, January 25: Customer filed 1099s and they were accepted by the IRS.
• Friday, February 2:  I decided to log into my own QB account at https://selfemployed.intuit.com/home#/contractor/clients. I was able to see my 1099 there.
• Monday, February 5:  I received my paper 1099 in the mail.

I still have not received email notification that the 1099 is available online. SirielJeaB said on February 2, "your contractors will receive their 1099 forms via email to the addresses listed in their profiles by January 31," which did not happen. So far, no one from Intuit has explained why emails are not being sent. (And yes, I checked my spam.)

I understand the importance of fixing the issue as soon as possible. Let me provide more information about this matter and ensure your concern will get sorted out with the best support group that can handle this type of concern with their tools in a secure space.

In QuickBooks, after your employer or client submits your 1099-MISC to the IRS, you'll get an email when it's ready for download, and the email includes the link to sign in to QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE). 

Given that you indicated that you had already accessed QBSE and were able to view the 1099, this serves as notice that you are now able to download the 1099 electronically.

Here's how:

1. Sign in to QuickBooks Self-Employed.
2. Go to the Clients menu.
3. Click the Forms tab.
4. Then, select the 1099 form and download it.

Moreover, if you still want to know more details about why you still have not received a notification email, even if you already logged in to QBSE and were able to view the 1099. I suggest reaching out to our Payroll Support Team. That way, they can check your account set up in a secure space.

Here's how:

1. Sign in to your QuickBooks Online (QBO) account.
2. Click the Help button.
3. In the QuickBooks Assistance chatbox, select Talk to a human and choose I still need a human.
4. Then, hit Contact Us.

If you go back a week or so in this thread, you'll see that I did call the Payroll support team. After 37 minutes, multiple times on hold, checking with supervisors, all they were able to do is read to me a script about what is supposed to happen. They had no information about why emails were not going out and they did not offer to investigate. The call was a waste of time.

As an I.T. admin, I know that there should be email logs indicating when each email goes out, whether the receiving email system accepted the email, etc. Maybe the Intuit mail server has been blacklisted as a spam source and all the receiving email servers are blocking the emails. We will never know unless Intuit Intuit is willing to check its back-end processes to see when the email was sent, what the response code was, etc. 

I've called as well and there are no answers. I filed 1099's in the middle of January and now we are almost 2 weeks into February and no one has received the 1099. Legally they are supposed to be in the mail by 01/31/24 so they should have arrived to everyone by now.

I just got off the phone with another customer service rep, they informed me that it can take 2-3 weeks before the 1099 arrives from January 31st by mail AND by email.

Just adding my voice to the litany of infuriated customers discovering that despite being marked "mailed" in the online portal, apparently NONE OF OUR 1099S HAVE BEEN MAILED. The BARE MINIMUM Intuit could have done was sent out a message giving us a heads-up there was a problem so that we didn't have to find out from a bunch of contractors asking when we were going to mail their 1099s. I've wasted hours researching this and now I have to contact all of my contractors, apologize, and manually mail out all these 1099s. It is astonishing to me the HUBRIS, GREED, and INCOMPETENCE of this company that keeps raising prices year after year after year while customer service and user interface continues to DECLINE. I'm officially shopping for another service. 

None of our contractors have received their 1099s either. I filed the second week of January. This is UNACCEPTABLE.

Adding on - I filed 1/21/2024 and my contractors have not received their mailed 1099's.

If you have used our 1099 e-file service on or before January 28, these will be mailed to your contractors' address indicated in their profile by January 31.

when the reason they have not been received 1099’s is there an issue with the service and 3rd party vendor.

My contractors HAVE NOT received them. It has been 11 days since 1/31. If they were mailed by the 31st, where are they?

I'm beginning to wonder whether these patient, canned responses are being generated by Artificial Intelligence (AI). Maybe a person is doing some cutting and pasting, but the responses are almost comically repetitive and out of touch with the issues being reported.

I already did and they weren't able to give me any details other than it can take 2-3 weeks from January 1st to arrive. With this many customers having issues, you would think that you guys would escalate the issue and do an investigation.

They don’t help. Now they are saying there was a problem with the 3rd party vendor responsible for printing and mailing them and they cannot provide a date when the issue will

be resolved. They have no explanation why they weren’t emailed to those that have an email in QuickBooks

That makes no sense. Did you read what you wrote? Why would you sent them out after the deadline? You're required to send them before the deadline. That's what a deadline means.

You're the second employee to write this. You make no sense at all. Deadlines are the last possible date to do something, not the date you start.  Sending things after the deadline means you're late. It's not a difficult concept.

That makes no sense!  If Intuit mailed the 1099, they couldn't possibly be in a spam folder. They'll be in a mailbox.

Has anyone's contractors received their 1099s? We filed Jan 25 and none of ours have yet. Today is Feb 15.

A couple of ours have. Quickbooks says it can take 2-3 weeks to receive them.

Recipient statements must be furnished by January 31st (as you mentioned) - then why is Intuit mailing them after January?  Your response does not make sense to me.  I have had multiple calls from clients who e-filed their 1099s on or before January 27th (QBO's deadline) who's 1099 recipients have not received their copy as of February 17th. I understand you cannot control the US Postal service, but mailing them after the deadline is not acceptable when we have met your e-filing deadline of January 27th.
