When data was migrated from QBD to QBO not all payroll deductions were migrated. These could be addressed with a liability adjustment, but QBO does not have this option

Some items will be fixed when the accounts are updated in payroll settings, but some items like healthcare, transit card and such were not.

When data was migrated from QBD to QBO not all payroll deductions were migrated. These could be addressed with a liability adjustment, but QBO does not have this option

Hi there, Pjvet. When transferring data from QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) to QuickBooks Online (QBO), it's common for some payroll items, such as deductions and liabilities to not be completely migrated. This is due to the differences in how the two platforms handle payroll data and their respective limitations.

Since some payroll items can be resolved by updating payroll settings, please ensure that you properly configure any that are still unresolved, including healthcare and transit card deductions in your QBO account. After making these changes, I recommend contacting our Live Payroll Support team for help with any further adjustments you may need.

Here's how:

  1. Navigate to the ? Help panel.
  2. Click on the Search tab and enter your concern.
  3. Select Contact Us.
  4. Choose either Chat or a Callback to connect with a payroll expert.

Please check out our support hours to ensure that we address your concerns on time.

You may want to run payroll reports in QBO, as this can provide valuable insights into your business, including details about payroll taxes and employee information.

If you have further concerns or need assistance with, feel free to reply back. We're here to help you every step of the way!

@pjvet

As an additional option, you can use the trial version of QB Desktop to access your historical payroll data if needed.

It's a combination of issues. Some are related to differences in how QBO and QBD payroll operate, and capabilities of QBO. It feels like QBO tried to simplify things in some areas, but you have to dig and ask to figure it all out. To complicate the migration the conversion was delayed one payroll period because something did not migrate properly. This prompted creating a portable Desktop file so they could back fill the data to the beginning of the year and account for the extra payroll run I had to do on desktop. What I've come to learn is that QBO payroll accounted for payroll tax items they are responsible in that last payroll run and those I am responsible for (e.g. health insurance, retirement, etc.) were not. So much for white glove service. These were all the reasons paid for guided set up. I'm sure it will all work out, but it has not been without issues.
