Hi,
I am unable to trace my written off invoices? Where can I see the list of previously written off invoices? Also is it possible to write off last year's invoice 2018 as if it happened in 2019? If I can't, how can I undo the written off-invoice?
Thank you for the help

Hello Meron GG,
We can go back to the payment that links the credit memo and the affected invoice. We just need to make sure that the Payment date is 2019.
First, we'll need to locate the affected invoice. There are many ways to look for the invoice. We can use reports, the Search option, the Sales Transactions page, or go to the customer profile. For me, I'll use the Sales Transactions page to locate the invoice.
Once we've found the invoice, we'll ensure that the date of the associated payments are correct.
You don't need to necessarily reverse the created payment as long as the Payment date is correct. Otherwise, you'll need to delete the payment and recreate the correct one.
Meanwhile, we can pull up a quick report for the bad debt account to see the transactions you've associated to it.
You can customize or export it to Excel if necessary.
Please get back to us if you have clarifications about these process. We'll be right here to guide you more. Have a great day!
Hey there, @Meron GG. Happy to chime in on how you can locate your written off Invoices.
With Write Off Invoices, QuickBooks applies discounts to zero out your invoices, then posts them to your write off account. Check your Chart of Accounts for a write off account and view the register or report to locate those written off Invoices.

Thank you.
My other question was if it was possible to write off an invoice of 2018 as if it happened in 2019? How does QBs record when I write off an invoice?
I have written off an invoice of 2018 but it goes to change the audited balance of 2018 even if I written it off on December 30th, 2019. Does QBs recognize the date of the invoice in which it's recorded which is in 2018 or it recognizes the date in which I have written off the invoice which is December 30, 2019?
Thanks again
M
I can help you correct the date of the write-off, @Meron GG.
When writing off, QuickBooks will use the date of the transaction that you used to zero out the invoice. For example, if you use a credit memo as a payment to close out the invoice, make sure that both the credit memo and payment is dated 2019 instead of 2018.
If the transaction didn't reflect accordingly to payment date. You can go back the paid invoice and click payment made to check if the payment is applied to the correct date.
If there's anything else I can do for you, please let me know. I'll be around to help you.
Hi Reymond,
Thank you.
Sorry for insisting but I need to correct the amount that I have written off - the total amount a customer has to pay us was $ 3392 and for some reason, they paid only 1272, and they were unable to pay the remaining amount due to some complications, this all has happened in 2018. I have written off the remaining amount of 2120 last time on December 2019 believing that QuickBooks would save the date in which I have written off - what shall I do now? What is the best way to reverse this? And how can I write off as of year 2019?
Also, I am not able to find the remaining amount that I have written off in the bad debt account, whereelse it could be located? Is this possible even?
Can you please walk me through this?
I am sorry for being silly.
Thank you so much
Meron
