Why does quickbooks also make changes that make things worse?

The new search field is so stupid. I incorrectly dated a transaction and didn't realize it until I closed it. Before, I'd have clicked on the search field and that transaction would be at the top of the list to reopen. Today it shows a two-month-old transaction to the same vendor. Apparently it is showing recent searches instead of recent transactions. I can't believe I'm the only person who has used that field on a near-daily basis to reopen a recently closed transaction. Although changing to new accounting software is a nightmare, it seems like it would probably be worth it, since QuickBooks is more and more like a nightmare whenever I'm using it.

Why does quickbooks also make changes that make things worse?

I just discovered this today. It took me awhile to find the magnifying glass in the middle of the header, instead of off to the right. Recent transactions such as a deposit I just did are no longer listed. You have to be a treasure hunter to find it.

I understand the challenges you're encountering with the search field showing old transactions instead of the most recent ones, myballz. It's my priority to help you resolve this issue.

Normally, the recent transaction area should display the most recent transactions, allowing for easy access to reopen closed transactions.

Since it's not showing on your end, we can perform some troubleshooting steps to fix this. There are times when the browser is full of frequently accessed page resources, which causes some errors or unusual responses.

Let's start accessing your account using a different or private browser. You can use either of these shortcut keys:

  • Google Chrome: Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Microsoft Edge: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Safari: Command + Shift + N

Once logged in, try to check the search field. If it works, I recommend clearing your browser's cache. Doing so will remove the historical data and access QuickBooks with a clean slate. You can also switch to a different supported browser.

Additionally, I've got you this article to learn more about this function: Search for transactions.

Lastly, here is also an article for the other steps that'll help you look for a transaction posted in a specific account: Find, review, and edit transactions in account registers.

Always be sure to blame the browser!

Why does quickbooks also make changes that make things worse?

QuickBooks makes these useless changes as a way of saying they are adding value because there is no way for the QB to actually innovate accounting.  QB these days is not made for people that like to click-clack on their phones, not real accountants, bookkeepers, or payroll professionals.  I have asked QB so many times why they keep moving things and changing things in the software and they boilerplate script is always, because it is what people want.  I one of the very early adopters of QB and in all those year QB has never asked me what I wanted.  I told QB this year that we are migrating over 400 clients from QB and they could care less.  QB/Intuit is a seriously evil and CRAP company now!

Right. And Today, I think i made things worse by clearing my cache. It took away some customizations I made and things don't behave the same anymore in my Sales Tax pull-down menu. Sigh.
