Why error message You can turn off automated taxes and forms after you disenroll from Minnesota e-services. Contact us if you want to disenroll from e-services.

I have information about the error message you're having, @northwoodsgrocer.

To begin with, the error message you're seeing pertains to how QBO handles payroll taxes. Instead of withholding and paying taxes when they are due, QBO withdraws taxes each time payroll is processed or when tax updates are necessary. Also, customers can view the withdrawal amounts when running payroll and review previous withdrawals in the Payroll Tax Center. The withdrawn funds will be placed in a holding account until they are due to be paid to the tax agencies. This process is also referred to as automated tax withdrawals.

Moreover, before turning off the automated tax payment and form filing feature, you'll need to make sure to first disenroll your e-services (e-file/e-pay).

If you want to opt out of the new protocol, you can turn off the Automated Taxes and Forms in the Payroll Settings. Here's how:

  1. At the upper right corner, select the Gear Icon or Settings.
  2. Select Payroll Settings.
  3. From the Taxes and Forms section, turn off the Automate Taxes and Forms.
  4. Then, choose Save and Done.

For more detailed information, check this article: Set up QuickBooks Online Payroll to pay and file your payroll taxes and forms.

However, if you're unable to turn off this feature, I recommend contacting our payroll support team to further investigate.

I'll also add these articles to help you file your sales tax return, record your sales tax payments, and enter your employee's year-to-date paycheck information:

If you have further concerns about the error message, please tag me in the comment section, @northwoodsgrocer. I'll assist you in any way possible.
