Why is my bill showing $168.68 and when I go to print the check it comes out as $148.68?

Hi there, @rd1wong-mac-com.

Thanks for taking the time to post complete details on your concern in the Community. I'm with you in getting past this issue.

QuickBooks Online uses cache and cookies to load faster. However, these can also cause issues when it gets fully loaded. We can resolve this by clearing your browser cache.

To help us confirm a browser-related problem, let's first use an incognito or a private window. Follow these keyboard shortcuts based on the browser you're using.

  • For Firefox, press Ctrl + Shift + P
  • For Chrome, press Ctrl + Shift + N
  • For Safari, hold down Command + Shift + N

Log in to your QuickBooks account and try to Print and Preview the invoice you've created. If that works, go back to your main browser and clear its cache to remove temporary internet files. Otherwise, use another supported browser as an alternative.

Also, feel free to check out some topics in this page to help you handle different vendor transactions in QuickBooks Online: Expenses and vendors

Keep me posted if you have any other concerns or follow-up questions. Have a good one.

Why is my bill showing $168.68 and when I go to print the check it comes out as $148.68?

HI AbegailS,

Thank you for your help.  I cleared the cache and cookies, but before I go to print and Preview, i have to void this check that was printed out. I went to the check register and double clicked on the check that was to be reprinted, but it did not give me a option to void it.  Would you know how I could go about this?

Much apprreciated

It's nice to have you back, @rd1wong-mac-com,

I'd be glad to guide you in voiding your check in QuickBooks Online (QBO). Going to the Expenses tab makes it easier to void a check.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Expenses tab, and select Filter.
  2. In the Type field, select Check.
  3. Select the date range in which the check was received and select Apply.
  4. Locate the check to void.
  5. From the Action column, select Void from the View/Edit ▼ dropdown menu.
  6. When prompted, select Yes to confirm you want to void the check.

For further information, please visit: How to void or delete a check in QuickBooks Online

I'll also add an article you can refer to for future use if you want to learn how to fix common printing issues in QBO: Fix QuickBooks Online printing issues on browsers for Windows.

Feel free to leave a reply if you need further assistance with your QuickBooks transactions. Have a great day!

I tried clearing my browser and the cache, and the final bill still remains at $140.50 instead of $168.68.

Sorry the previous amount of $148.68 was incorrect.  This is so strange.

Good day, rd1wong-mac-com.

Have you checked your print queue to see if there are any new checks? It's possible that more checks have been added and need to be printed.

We can also perform additional troubleshooting steps, such as updating and repairing Adobe Reader/Acrobat. You can update it on the Adobe website by clicking on this link.

To repair Adobe Reader/Acrobat:

  1. Close Acrobat/Reader and all open web browser windows.
  2. Go to the Start button at the bottom left of your screen.
  3. Type Control Panel, then press Enter.
  4. Choose Programs and Features.
  5. Select Acrobat or Adobe Reader, right-click and then hit Uninstall/Change.
  6. In the Setup dialog box, press Next.
  7. Select Repair, then Next.
  8. Click Install.
  9. When the process is complete, hit Finish.
  10. Restart your computer.

You can now log back in to QuickBooks Online, then print the check again.

If the issue persists, I recommend contacting our Support Team so that we can look into it further. They also have the right tools to investigate the problem in a secure environment.

Let me know how it goes by tagging my name in the comment. I'll be here if you need more assistance. Have a great day!
