Hey, @Andreb1.
Welcome to the Community!
Yes, you should be able to change the workstation name in an old QuickBooks Point of Sale (POS) by doing the following steps:
However, depending on your network setup, you may need administrator access to make changes.
Feel free to come back if you have any other questions. I'm only a post away if you need me again. Take care!
Hi,
It seems to be 2013 version of Point of sales.
File -> Preferences -> Workstation .
I see workstation number, i dont see a name option. But if i change the workstation number to let say 3, when i go to the z-out report and click modify, under filters when i click workstation i see the old name as the first option and i see workstation 3 as select able with the name of the machine. I dont know why i can just change the first one or remote it..
Thanks for getting back to the Community concerning changing the workstation name in QuickBooks Point of Sale, @Andreb1.
In QuickBooks Point of Sale 2013, we're unable to change the workstation name. As a workaround, you can continue changing the station number to see the old name in running and customizing your reports.
Since QB Point of Sale has already been discontinued, your client might want to consider having QuickBooks Desktop to manage products and other purchases: QuickBooks Enterprise Pricing.
If there's anything else I can help you with QuickBooks-related matters, please don't hesitate to post them here. Take care!
Why has the point of sales been discontinued ? so i have to advice them to migrate to a different software package all together for a point of sales?
Hello, Andreb1.
More than two decades ago, we launched QuickBooks Desktop Point of Sale to help retailers manage their stores efficiently and effectively. However, the platform we built the software on is unique, making it challenging to add new features and maintain the existing ones.
Thus, we have made a difficult decision after careful consideration. QuickBooks Desktop Point of Sale 19.0 will no longer be supported after October 3, 2023, and we regret that it can't be extended beyond that date.
To help with the transition, we've worked with Shopify to offer a POS option that integrates with QuickBooks Desktop Financial Software. You can also consider exploring other Point of Sale solutions in the market or online to determine what works best for your business. If you're interested to migrate, scroll-down to the Switch to Shopify section in this article: QuickBooks Desktop Point of Sale discontinuation.
I also recommend reading this our FAQ page to learn more about the discontinuation.
Please keep us updated if you have other related-question regarding QuickBooks Point of Sale. I want you get back to business as soon as possible.
