Creating a check

Hi there, @1945jas.

I see this is your first question so let me take the time to welcome you here to the Intuit community. I'm here to help make sure that you can save the check that you've written in QuickBooks Desktop.

The Save button is located in the bottom part of the Write Checks window. If you're not seeing this option, let's perform some troubleshooting steps that can help isolate this issue. To start off, try to create a test company file, then write a Check using that file to see if you have the option to save it. Here's how:

1. Open your QuickBooks company file.
2. Go to File menu at the top, then pick New Company on the drop-down.
3. Select Express Start.
4. In the newly created test company, click the Banking menu at the top.
5. Choose Write Checks.

For more information, you may visit this article: Create QuickBooks Desktop company file: Overview.

If you're able to see the Save button, go back to your main company file and run the verify and rebuild utility. This tool will comb through your data, fix any errors it can find, and notify you of anything that needs to be manually corrected. For your reference, here's a helpful article with the steps on how to run the tool: Verify and Rebuild Data in QuickBooks Desktop.

On the other hand, if you're still getting the same results, this might be a program-related issue. Repairing your QuickBooks will likely fix this.

That should get you fixed right up! Please let me know how it goes by leaving a comment below. I'm only a post away if you have any follow-up questions. Take care and enjoy the rest of the day.

Creating a check

It's at the bottom of the check.

You can also press Ctrl-Enter to save most any transaction.

If you can see the bottom of the check form and there is no button, it is likely that your monitor resolution is too high for QB, or that you're using fonts scaled up more than 100%.   Change your monitor settings to 100% and restart QB and try again.  If that doen't work, reduce your monitor's resolution and try again.
