Credit Card fees

Has QBO added the ability to automatically charge a Credit Card fee without having to add it to an invoice?  We never know how Clients will pay so adding it to an invoice is not an option.  Need it to be automatic when they choose CC option to pay.

Credit Card fees

Hello there, Cathy.

Thank you for joining us here in the Community space. I'm here to share information about charging credit card fees to customers in QuickBooks Online.

An update to automatically charge a credit card fee when they choose the CC option is unavailable. For now, the only workaround is to add it to an invoice as a line item.

I know the importance of this ability for users to charge fees to customers. Please know our product engineers provide updates regularly to improve the features and options.

As we assess this, I recommend sending feedback about the needed feature to our product engineers. We also make changes and adjustments based on user feedback.

Here's how:

  1. Log into your QuickBooks account.
  2. Click the Gear icon in the upper-right corner.
  3. Select Feedback under Profile.
  4. Share your feedback.
  5. Hit Next to submit.

Also, it is best to have your payments and processing fees added to the correct accounts. I have a link here you can visit to learn more about the steps: Choose where to record payments and processing fees for QuickBooks Payments.

Don't hesitate to get back to us here in the Community anytime you have questions or concerns about managing customer payments. The Community and I will be happy to help you some more. Keep safe.

I see requests like this going back for years.  This is often an option when paying invoices from vendors using other online payment services, so it seems like QBO is playing catch up.  I'm given the option to pay with a checking account or a with a credit card for an addition 2.9% fee and I'd like to be able to do the same for my clients.

If you are running a B2B company, you can use a 3rd party payment processor to do so for free.

How would you do that when QBO donsn't allow you to link with other processors, only their own?

You can use 3rd party processors to integrate with QBO. Are you B2B?

Yes, B2B but I have found no way to integrate a 3rd party processor to QBO.

Hello there, Gary. I have a set of instructions that can help you discover a third-party app that can be integrated with QuickBooks Online.

QuickBooks Online is a fantastic tool for small business management, but it might not always have all the features your business specifically needs. Don't worry though, because we have a special platform where you can find compatible and supported third-party applications that can assist you with your tasks.

To do so, feel free to visit this page: Apps help QuickBooks run better. You can enter relevant keywords to generate a list of apps that align with your specific requirements. Additionally, I'd suggest taking the time to read reviews of each app to obtain recommendations from other users, which can assist you in making a more informed decision.

Furthermore, I have an article that provides guidance on how to accurately document third-party sales and fees for your online sales channels that are linked to QuickBooks Online: Record third-party sales and fees in QuickBooks Online.

If you have any further questions or encounter any difficulties along the way, please don't hesitate to reach out to me. I'm here to provide you with the support you need to ensure your payment process is seamless. I'd be glad to assist you further. Take care always.
