direct deposit

I have currently spent 10 hours in chats and on the phone with Quickbooks tech support trying to get direct deposit set up.  I was supposed to get a call back this morning from the higher tier tech support. No one has called.  I call in to tech support and am hold.

Any ideas on how to get in touch with the upper tiers of tech support.

I realize that expecting a call back is silly.

direct deposit

Thanks for getting in touch with the Community, Jane931.

When setting up direct deposit, you'll initially want to gather your business, bank, and principal officer information.

This includes:

  • Business name, address, and EIN.
  • Employees’ or contractors’ bank account details.
  • Principal officer’s Social Security number, birth date, and home address.
  • Online banking credentials, or your company’s routing and account numbers.

Next, you can connect the bank account. You may be able to connect it instantly through Instant Bank Verification. This enables you to use direct deposit for your team right away.

Here's how to connect an account:

  1. Open QuickBooks and sign in with the admin username and password.
  2. In your top menu bar, go to Employees, My Payroll Service, then Activate Direct Deposit.
  3. Click Get Started. If you don't see a Get Started option, hit I'm the admin, and I'm the primary person who can..., and follow the presented steps to sign in or create an account.
  4. From your Business tab, press Start. Enter any necessary information and click Next.
  5. Enter the Principal officer details, hit Next, then Add new bank account.
  6. Enter your financial institution's name and the online bank credentials. You can also detail your routing and account numbers if you'd prefer. Afterwards, you'll need to create a PIN. This PIN will be used when sending payroll to Intuit. Confirm it twice, then press Submit.
  7. Click Next, then Accept and Submit.
  8. If prompted, confirm the Principal officer's full Social Security number.
  9. Select Submit.

After connecting your account, you'll see one of the following messages:

  • Your bank account is connected - This means you're ready to pay employees by direct deposit. You can begin setting up employee bank account information in your books.
  • Thank you for signing up for QuickBooks Direct Deposit - This message means you'll have a few more steps to fully connect the account.

If you weren't able to connect your account instantly, Intuit pings it with a test debit of less than $1.00. It can take up to 2 business days before you see our debit. You can review our Verify your bank account for payroll article for more information on this process.

In the event Intuit's test debit gets rejected for some reason, or you need some type of assistance with this process, I'd recommend continuing to get in touch with our Customer Care team. They'll be able to pull up your account in a secure environment, conduct further research with you, and discuss what needs to happen next.

I've also included a detailed resource about setting up direct deposit which may come in handy moving forward: Set up your company payroll for direct deposit

Please don't hesitate to send a reply if there's any additional questions. Have an awesome Friday!
